Description

FORKLIFT ATTACHMENT' for Pressing Barrels The proposed invention relates to equipment for pre-treatment of waste, and in particular to equipment for preparing used barrels for disposal. There is known equipment for pressing barrels. These are stationary presses of various types (see the catalogs of Drum Crusher, PRESSMAX, etc.)The disadvantage of this equipment is that barrels are required to be delivered to it (most often with forklifts equipped with a removable barrel gripper). These presses are indoor-mounted, expensive and therefore are used in large enterprises. Also known are mobile installations containing presses and barrel handling equipment (most often clamshell cranes) mounted on a machine. These devices are large, poorly maneuverable, and therefore are also used in large enterprises. There are a large number of medium and small enterprises, the premises of which are filled with the used barrels, storage of which is expensive and violates sanitary standards.Barrel presses provide a frame that holds the barrel and a movable plate located in the frame, moving along the guide with the help of a slider. The movable plate is driven by a drive mounted on the frame (see, for example, patent 2268146 B30B9/32).The purpose of the proposed invention is the creation of a removable hinged attachment for pressing barrels with a serial forklift. The attachment is a press mounted on the forks of a forklift for transportation and driven by the mechanism of the forklift. This will allow a forklift with a mounted hinged attachment to get to the location of the barrels and press them on the spot, freeing up areas, occupied by their storage. The attachment will allow a maneuverable forklift of light load capacity designed for operating in high warehouses to develop force required to press barrels of all types (including those intended for chemicals and fuel). The attachment will allow to use the forklift more efficiently.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention describes an attachment to a self-propelled forklift for pressing (crumpling) used barrels. The attachment includes a frame, a movable plate located in it and a traverse mounted on the frame, and chain hoists connecting them, located between the frame and the movable plate. The rope ends of the chain hoist are fixed on the frame and the traverse, and the blocks are mounted on the frame and the movable plate.Grooves for forklift forks are made in the frame and plate. The frame is also equipped with stops to prevent displacement relative to the forklift, as well as protrusions to prevent displacement of the traverses. The movable plate is mounted in the guide and is pressed against the frame by a spring. The pressing of the barrel, located inside the frame, is carried out when lifting the traverse with the forks of the forklift. In this case, the chain hoists impact the movable plate, which descends, developing a large force necessary for pressing.Transportation of the device is carried out after the frame is mounted on the forks of the forklift.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Fig. 1-3 represent a general view of the attachment (respectively, a side, top and front view), and Fig. 4-7 represent sections explaining the structure, which contains frame 1. the dimensions of which allow placing a barrel inside (not shown in the drawing), movable plate 2, located in frame 1, traverse 3 and chain hoists 4 connecting them, located between frame 1 and movable plate 2.A guide 5 is fixed on the frame 1, and a slider 6 on the plate 2. A spring 7 is located between the frame and the plate. The ends of the cables 8 of the chain hoist 4 are fixed on the frame 1, and the ends of the cables 9 are fixed on the traverse 3. The blocks 10 of the chain hoist 4 are mounted on the frame 1 and on the plate 2.The grooves 11 for the forklift forks are made in the frame 1, and the grooves in the traverse 3.Frame 1 is equipped with stops 13 and 14, preventing its displacement relative to the forklift mast (not shown). The movable plate has a protrusion 15 pressed against the frame by a spring 7, as well as stops 16 that prevent lateral displacement of the traverse 3, which is equipped with a stop 17 contacting with the frame 1. The ends of the cables 8 are protected by a guard 18, and the spring 7 by a guard 19.The device operates as follows. A barrel is placed inside frame 1 (shown in thin lines), see Fig. 8. Then the forks 20 of the forklift (shown by thin lines) are inserted into the grooves 12 of the traverse 3 until the stop 13 contacts the mast 21 of the forklift (shown by thin lines). The stop 14 is located under the mast 21. Then the fork 20 with the traverse and the ends of the rope 9 are lifted by the forklift. The force created in this case is transmitted by chain hoists 4 to the movable plate 2, which descends, moving along the guide 5 and, compressing the spring 7, presses (crumples, squeezes) the barrel. After the end of the pressing, the forks 20 are lowered and, under the action of their own weight and the force created by the spring 7, the traverse 3 and the chain hoist 4 return to their original position.
To transport the device, the forks 20 are inserted into the grooves 11 of the frame 1, after which the mechanism for lifting and moving the forklift is turned on (see Fig. 9).Thus, the pressing of the barrel is carried out by the force generated by the forklift without the own drive of the press, which is, in substance, the frame 1 with the movable plate 2.This is due to the fact that the lifting height of the forks 20 of a forklift equipped with a standard three-section mast 21 (TFV "Triplex") is more than 7 times the height of the barrel. This is what makes it possible to use chain hoists 4 and create a force with a small- sized maneuverable forklift, which makes it possible to reduce the height of the barrel by 7-8 times. The device can be used for pressing other waste (boxes, packages, etc.).

Claims (3)

1. An attachment for a self-propelled forklift, containing a frame made with the possibility of placing a barrel in it, a movable plate mounted in the frame, a traverse located on the frame and a chain hoist connecting them located between the frame and the plate, whereina) the ends of the chain hoist ropes are fixed on the frame and traverse, and the blocks are mounted on the frame and the movable plate;b) the frame and traverses are made with grooves for the forklift forks;c) The frame is equipped with a guide for the plate and a spring pressing the plate against it;d) the frame is equipped with stops that prevent its displacement relative to the forklift, and protrusions that limit the lateral displacement of the traverse.
2. The attachment according to claim 1 presses the barrel while lifting the traverse mounted on the forks of the forklift, and at the same time moving the movable plate with chain hoists.
3. The attachment according to claim 1 is moved by the forklift after the frame is mounted on its forks. Inventor Yuri Granovsky
