288499/ HANDLES WITH GUIDED MEASURING FOR TOOLS FIELD OF THE INVENTION [0001] The present invention relates in general to working tools that require measuring during use thereof, in particular to handles equipped with a measuring unit, wherein said handles are designed to fit such tools or constitute replaceable-handles therefor. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0002] Various tools, such as drills and cutting tools, e.g. scissors and saws, require a user to measure and mark the precise location to drill in or a line along which cutting is required. Usually, especially in the industry, exact determination of a distance of up to a few 100m with an accuracy of a few mm is required. However, the greater the distance is, the harder it is to obtain such an accurate measurement. In addition, such measurement often requires the user precision and the use of a long roller or angled-roller to draw a straight line onto a surface designated for cutting along the line- this is highly inaccurate and is liable to mistakes. [0003] Various hand-held laser measuring devices have been developed providing the ability to measure a precise distance, such as seen in EP 1422535 and DE 19836812. However, such devices only enable distance measurement and still require the user to mark the desired drilling point or cutting point/line. [0004] US 2014/007442 and US 2002/0145724 provide power tools equipped with at least two measuring units designed to measure the distance of the tool from at least two directions to enable pinpoint positioning of the tool, e.g., for drilling in a specific point. [0005] Other devices aim at assisting a user in cutting a long a straight line, such as in CN 103481305 and CN 202878351 that provide scissors equipped with a laser-guiding device that illuminates a laser beam forward to assist the user to follow a pre-drawn line. However, these devices also require the user to first draw a line along which cutting is required, and only assist in aligning the cutting tool in the right direction along said line. [0006] The object of the present invention is to implement a laser distance measuring device with any desired tool to eliminate the need for pre-measuring and marking. 288499/
Claims (14)
1. A removable handle 100 for mounting onto a grip of a tool, the handle 100 comprising an integrated electric measuring unit 103 , characterized in that the handle 100 is mountable on and off said tool’s grip, and wherein said measuring unit 103 : (i) comprises an activation switch designed to activate the electric measuring unit 103 independently from the activation of said tool, and (ii) is designed to measure distance of the tool from one specific reference point perpendicular to the tools’ body and tool’s movement direction.
2. The handle 100 of claim 1, wherein said measuring unit 103 is a light-based measurement unit.
3. The handle 100 claim 2, wherein said light-based measurement unit 103 is a laser emitting unit.
4. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-3, wherein said measuring unit 103further comprises a display screen 105 .
5. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-4, wherein said measuring unit 103further comprises an alert mechanism for alerting the user that the distance of the tool from a predefined reference point is reduced or increased.
6. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-5, wherein said activation switch is an automatic activation switch designed to activate the electric measuring unit 103 automatically when starting to use the tool.
7. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-6, wherein said measuring unit 103 is deactivated after a predetermined period.
8. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-6, wherein said measuring unit 103 is deactivated according to a predefined protocol.
9. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-8, wherein said measuring unit 103 is designed for a single distance measurement.
10. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-9, wherein said measuring unit 103 is designed for a continuous distance measurement. 288499/
11. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-10, further comprising a locking mechanism designed to lock/anchor the handle 100 onto the tools’ grip and prevent unintentional removal therefrom.
12. The handle 100 of any one of claims 1-11, further comprising a hinge 104 connecting the measuring unit 103with the handle 100 enabling adjusting angle of the measuring unit 103relative to the handle 100 and tool.
13. A pair of handles comprising the handle 100 according to any one of claims 1-12.
