Abstract
A universal electrical socket comprising an electrically insulating shell and two electrically conductive arrangements mounted within the shell. The electrically conductive arrangements receive electrically conductive prongs of an electric plug. Each electrically conductive arrangement comprises a base member carrying a matrix of resiliently deformable, adjacent pins. The pins are in electric contact with the base member, which has an electric terminal connectable to an electric network. Each pin comprises a first electrically conductive portion neighbouring the base member and a second portion having an insulating coating of a predetermined length along the pin. The insulating coating prevents a user from an electric trauma. The electrically conductive prongs of the electric plug are insertable into the matrix of pins — into a space between the pins formed by a resilient deformation thereof for a depth greater than the predetermined length, thereby establishing electric contact between the prongs and the electrically conductive arrangement.
