Abstract
A system for water-free deoiling mill scale comprises: (a) a feeding hopper loadable with mill scale; (b) a mixer configured for mixing the mill scale; (c) a lamellar settler configured for separating a mixture of the mill scale and water-free organic solvent; (d) a dryer configured drying the deoiled mill scale; (e) an assembly for outloading dried deoiled mill scale; and (f) recycling means comprising a fractionating column configured for separation the organic solvent-oil mixture into oil and organic solvent components. The dryer comprises a heater being in a direct thermal contact with the deoiled mill scale. The heater vaporizes residual organic solvent within the deoiled mill. The recycling means comprises a primary condenser for heating the organic solvent-oil mixture to be fractionated by heat carried by the residual organic solvent vaporized within the dryer.
