Description

Plastic containers 2 This invention relates to containers made of plasties economic casks and other containers of be as light as but at the time have a relatively good To reach this stability with bottles having predominantly conical or zontally or vertically arranged ribs are It is also known provide casks containers with reinforcing ribs or Furthermore ottles and containers for storing and transporting liquids containing gases are the of said bottles being composed of spherical Thus British Patent bottles for or other made of plastics material and having body formed of one or several spherical portions by circunferentially extending welded reinforcing These bottles are not collapsible and arc provided with reinforcing ribs on their inner outer They also have an externally concave provided with reinforcing webs on its outside These bottles have the disadvantage that big handling spaces of the are Itis an object of the present invention to provide economical collapsible containers of reduced weight and thus reduced cost of the whic have a good stability and are almost unbreakable during porting and handling by the 2a invention consists in a collapsible container formed of a thin walled plastic foil and provided with at least one ring which separates the container into successive portions which when inflated assume a stantially spherical said container having a base portion which is of substantially spherically vaulted and a base ring formed integrally with or secured to said base Owing to their reduced weight and reduced cost of these bottles and containers can be used as way packages for packaging chemicals or such as plastics industry has developed synthetic plastic materials of physiologically irreproachable sition which are to a considerable such as for instance hard so that it is technically 4 also an inside home syphons and transport milk aerosol portable In accordance with the the bottles or containers preferably have a ball zone shape and consist of plastic foils for or The containers are produced in an extrusion or foil blowing injection blowin injection vacuum forming deep drawing injection pressing or fugal casting bottles or containers have an extremely thin wall gauge the bending stiffness of which is almost whereby deformations are avoided for reasons of strength ani calibration in that the figuration of the wall in the know form of ball zones is the bottom of the bottle the ends of the cask are not simply vaulted but are shaped in such a manner that they complete the lowest ball zone and the outermost ball to form an approximated At this closing an annular supporting surface is to avoid the deformation of the juncture between two ball produced in the reinforcing bead of the known the bottles according to the invention are provided either with an integral or separate reinforcing When this reinforcing ring is made of elastic material of an exactl fixed cross sectional this 5 reinforcing will act as a in that with increasing overpressure withi the tne expansion of wall is restricted to the belt between the ball Moreover according to the invention a suitable closure is provided whic on the one by its supports the containing wall of the upper ball zone loaded by the inside pressure and counteracts the components of the diaphragm forces at this point acting in a radially outward direction on the other increases the necessary sealing forces due to the load exerted by the inside Another feature of the invention resides in that during the production of the hollow member of plastic material a prefabricated ring is placed into the mold that the ring becomes connected with the wall of the hollow and in that when the wall of the bottle consisting at first of a hose foil is inflated by the filling material when filling the the reinforcing ring placed around the hose foil prevents the hose from being blown into a full After up the hose during the manufacture of the hollow the closure is for by According to the the walls of the hollow member consist of elastic or foldabie in which the reinforcing ring or rings when in folded condition are lying one atop the whereas in the filling operation the folded container is drawn apart 6 by the pressure of the filling material like so that the reinforcing rings assume their final position and the container walls are forming their ball Thus the empty container is folded like bellows and requires a minimum of storage and transport In the following casks or tainers in accordance with the invention shown in several exemplary embodiments of the that means with walls in the form of ball which may approach also parabollcally shaped bottoms or bottoms having the shape of or similar geometrical 1 and 2 show elevational views of containers according to invention with different embodiments of the supporting 5 and 4 show elevational views of the bottom portion of containers the supporting ring being inserted in t o different shows a partial elevational view of the lower portion of the container having the supporting ring attached thereto by a 6 corresponds to and shows an embodiment of a separate supporting ring of the 7 shows an elevational view of a bottle with a reinforcing ring 9 being not integrally with the bottle 8 shows a partial view of a 7 an elevational view of a bottle the thickness of which at the contraction zone ia greater than at spherical shaped so as to a reinforcing 12 and 13 show views of various closures of a container according to the shows an elevational view of a container with another embodiment of the 1 shows an elevational view of a drinking bottle with bottom and supporting ring formed of the of the container wall The material is welded at the transition A between the container wall 1 and the bottom so that no liquid penetrate into the cavity of the supporting ring The squeezed seam 3 constituting the reinforcing ring of the expanded hollow article may be made in different with a corresponding form of the blowing the seam no longer 2 shows a supporting ring which is fabricated of a suitable material and is placed in the blowing mold when the hollow article 1 is ring may also be divided for reasons connected with production or the supporting ring may be replaced by individual annular segments forming a 3 and 4 show supporting rings 2 are inserted in suitably arranged annular grooves in the jackets 1 of the ready produced hollow It is also possible to weld or otherwise adhere prefabricated rings instead of inserting them in the annular grooves 8 which may then omitted from the jackets 1 of the hollow A ring 2 may also be formed from a for instance of formed into an annular shape and adhered around the bottom by means of a special machine in a manner known per in which case the strip may be supplied from a shows the attachment of a frame 2 of plastic or wire resiliently holding the lower the bottle 1 forming a supporting area at the 6 shows a prefabricated ring 2 or prefabricated disc of suitable material clamped over the correspondingly shaped squeezed seam of the finished hollow article 1 of this embodiment having the advantage that the dished shape of the bottom wall must not have a special 7 shows a bottle with a reinforcing 9 which is not integrally connected with the bottle wall 1 and which counteracts the radially acting annular The reinforcing ring may be formed of strong cardboard or carton because only tensile stress is acting in the it may be prefabricated and during the fabrication of the in which case it may become bonded to the bottle ring may also be laid around the bottle and be pasted or folded in dependence upon the 9 for the of the walls a tube foil is employed with a ring placed it will be inflated by the filling assuming the shape if two or more ball this the bottle mouth may be in a manner known per When increasing the inner pressure owing to the tension in the wall will increase so that also in the case of elastic material a firm bottle shape will annular is assumed to be rectangular but it may also have other for a circular The reinforcing ring may be distinguished from the bottle by its for instance by eloxation by in the case of aluminium in it is possible to locate advertising labels or coinings Alternatively reinforcing which consist of synthetic plastic material capable of being are applied in a suitable process onto the finished for instance by spraying and upon cooling or by chemical wiH form rigid In this a connection with the container wall 1 may Another possibility the fabrication of reinforcing rings is offered by the injection blowing with the container or bottle being blown from an injected blank in the places of the annular reinforcement has an accumulation of and with the reinforcement ring 9 of plastics appliei onto the wall of the finished container in a able for instance by spraying when cooling chemical reaction forming solid a connection with the material of the wall 1 may also take holes in the tension ring into which during the production process the material of the or container wall will flow forming inside overpressure these prevent the wall material from migrating under the ring thus enabling an expansion of the ball In this way sliding of the wall material under the reinforcing ring can be when ball zones of different or ball zones and other shaped hollow members are connected with each It will be seen from the preceding specificatio that the embodiment of reinforcing ring in accordance with also acts as a tension as in the case of the extrusion blowing an increase inwall gauge will automatically at the place of the smallest to and containers are shown closures which are tight in connection with elastically deformed bottle The sealing pressure is available the of the inside overpressure by means of contact pressure the closing Bu the sealing pressure is still enhanced with increasing The closures are designed in such a manner that the forces necessary for closing are not acting the thin wall of the bottle and are not loading The closing of the closing machine engages with acting forces only ring 18 of the bottle mouth is The bottle closure show an enlarged scale in in the ope has a indicated 11 of the preferably tin plate or crimped into the position will he clearly seen that to effect this no vertical forces are acting onto the bottle soft elastic sealing 16 will be compressed already during the closing Overpressure in the bottle or container increases the sealing force in on the one the bottle wall 20 is laterally pressed apart and generates an additional laterially acting contact on the other an additional contact pressure is provided in the lower portion of the sealing 16 by the pressure acting on the surface 17 of the The closure be opened by a flap 19 the closure may be formed as a the cap of w ich is in the region of the flap 11 shows a ball zone shaped bottle with a modified form of the closure of in which the central portion of the cap 17 is deeply drawn The closure shown in 12 Consists of a plane cap the rim 15 of which is flanged over a sealing 16 disposed around the ring of the bottle The cap 17 is only partially thereby being distorted by inside overpressure such that the rim 15 is contracted as a ring and generates an additional pressure at the lateral rim of the sealing This phenomenon may still be enhanced by providing the cap with a ment at the edge between the cap 17 and the rim for by accumulation of In a 12 a cap 17 and a clamping In the closing the clamping is pulled over the sealing a suitable device and thus presses the sealing 16 both against the underside of the container rim by the wedge action of said rim 18 also against The sealing forces on the upper surface of the container rim enhanced by vacuum and those on the underside are enhanced by overpressure in the clamping band may also be formed as a light crimped ring adapted to be opened by 13 insufficientOCRQuality
