Claims (27)

- 18 - 266463/ 02635179258- CLAIMS:
1. A method of providing selective condensate drainage for an air conditioner through a wall of a room configured to be gas-tight while providing passage for ductwork of the air conditioner through the wall, using a system comprising a housing embedded in the wall; said housing having a back wall, and a circumferential wall extending therefrom with an outside face, and an inside face defining a space together with said back wall, and said housing is formed with a liquid drain passageway extending from said space through a drain wall of the housing, and a wall sleeve extending from the back wall of the housing, configured to facilitate ductwork passage therethrough through the wall; a valve assembly having at least three ports sealingly connected to the liquid drain passageway, said three ports being a drain port, an auxiliary port, and a condensate port; a utility drain conduit at least partially embedded in the wall and passing therethrough, and connected to said drain port of the valve assembly; an auxiliary conduit disposed separate from the wall connected to said auxiliary port; and a condensate drain conduit of the air conditioner connected to the condensate port; the method comprising: selectively operating said valve assembly to establish fluid communication between either the condensate port and the drain port, or the condensate port and the auxiliary port, to convey condensate from the condensate drain conduit to either the utility drain conduit or the auxiliary conduit, while maintaining the connection between the condensate drain conduit and the condensate port, wherein upon establishing fluid communication between the condensate port and the auxiliary port by operating said valve assembly, the utility drain conduit is configured to remain connected to the drain port, the auxiliary conduit is configured to remain connected to the auxiliary port, and the condensate drain conduit is configured to remain connected to the condensate port, and the room turns sealed to outdoor gasses entering through the utility drain conduit.
2. A method according to Claim 1, wherein the operation of said valve assembly purposed to establish fluid communication between the condensate port and the auxiliary port is performed in a single action. - 19 - 266463/ 02635179258-
3. A method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said valve assembly further comprises a tap configured to facilitate the selective establishment of the fluid communication.

A method according to Claim 3, wherein the circumferential wall of the housing comprises a housing rim defining an access opening for the space, and wherein the housing rim is formed with a flanging portion extending laterally from the circumferential wall; the flanging portion being formed with fastening bores configured to receive fasteners therein, for fastening the housing to an external surface, such that the access opening is blocked by the external surface.

A method according to Claim 4, further comprising a step of providing a wall covering frame having a shape at least partially conformed with the inside face of the circumferential wall of the housing; and a step of snugly sliding said wall covering frame within the housing so that a frame inside face of the wall covering frame defines a space extension for the space.

A method according to Claim 5, wherein said sliding within the housing is performed from a first position, in which the extended space is maximal, towards a second position, in which the space extension is shorter than maximal, and adapted to a width of a plaster layer applied to the wall after casting.
7. A method according to Claim 6, further comprising a step of providing at least one spacer between the wall covering frame and the housing, so as to maintain a minimal space extension, at least when the wall covering frame snugly slides from the first position to the second position.
8. A method according to Claim 7, wherein the at least one spacer comprises a series of detachable members, each of said detachable members being configured to detach from an adjacent detachable member so as to define the size of the minimal space extension.
9. A method according to Claim 8, wherein the detachable members are pre-connected to each other by breakable portions therebetween, configured to break so as to detach two adjacent detachable members from each other. - 20 - 266463/ 02635179258-
10. A method according to Claim 9, wherein said detachable members have equal dimensions.
11. A method according to any one of claims 7 to 10, further comprising a step of providing fastening means for fastening the wall covering frame to the housing when the wall covering frame is at its second position, while the at least one spacer maintains an offset distance therebetween.
12. A method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the auxiliary conduit is accommodated in the space in a compacted state thereof, said method further comprising a step of extending the auxiliary conduit outside the space to a deployed state thereof.
13. A method according to Claim 12, further comprising a step of providing an access opening for providing access to the space, and a detachable access cover partially covering said access opening and supporting said auxiliary conduit in said space in its compacted state; and a step of detaching said access cover so as to deploy said auxiliary conduit outside the space.

A system for providing selective condensate drainage for an air conditioner through a wall of a room configured to be gas-tight while providing passage for ductwork of the air conditioner through the wall; the system comprising: a housing configured to be embedded in the wall; said housing having a back wall, and a circumferential wall extending therefrom with an outside face, and an inside face defining a space together with said back wall, and said housing is formed with a liquid drain passageway extending from said space through a drain wall of the housing, and a wall sleeve extending from the back wall of the housing, configured to facilitate ductwork passage therethrough through the wall; a utility drain conduit configured to be at least partially embedded in the wall and have an end exposed to outdoor air; a valve assembly having at least three ports and is sealingly connected to the liquid drain passageway, said three ports being a drain port connectable to the utility drain conduit, a condensate port connectable to a condensate drain conduit of the air conditioner, and an auxiliary port connectable to an auxiliary conduit extendable outside the space; - 21 - 266463/ 02635179258- said valve assembly being operable to establish fluid communication between either the condensate port and the drain port, or the condensate port and the auxiliary port, to convey condensate from the condensate drain conduit to either the utility drain conduit or the auxiliary conduit; wherein upon establishing fluid communication between the condensate port and the auxiliary port by operating said valve assembly, the utility drain conduit is configured to remain connected to the drain port, the auxiliary conduit is configured to remain connected to the auxiliary port, and the condensate drain conduit is configured to remain connected to the condensate port, and the room turns sealed to outdoor gasses entering through the utility drain conduit.
15. A system according to Claim 14, wherein the operation of said valve assembly purposed to establish fluid communication between the condensate port and the auxiliary port is performed in a single action.
16. A system according to Claim 14 or Claim 15, wherein said valve assembly further comprises a tap configured to facilitate the selective establishment of the fluid communication.
17. A system according to Claim 16, wherein the circumferential wall of the housing comprises a housing rim defining an access opening for the space, and wherein the housing rim is formed with a flanging portion extending laterally from the circumferential wall; the flanging portion being formed with fastening bores configured to receive fasteners therein, for fastening the housing to an external surface, such that the access opening is blocked by the external surface.

A system according to Claim 17, further comprising a wall covering frame having a shape at least partially conformed with the inside face of the circumferential wall of the housing, the wall covering frame having a frame inside face and being snugly slidable within the housing so that the frame inside face defines a space extension for the space.

A system according to Claim 18, wherein said sliding within the housing is performed from a first position, in which the extended space is maximal, towards a second position, in which the - 22 - 266463/ 02635179258- space extension is shorter than maximal, and adapted to a width of a plaster layer applied to the wall after casting.
20. A system according to Claim 19, further comprising at least one spacer between the wall covering frame and the housing, configured to maintain a minimal space extension, at least when the wall covering frame snugly slides from the first position to the second position.
21. A system according to Claim 20, wherein the at least one spacer comprises a series of detachable members, each of the detachable members being configured to detach from an adjacent detachable member so as to define the size of the minimal space extension.
22. A system according to Claim 21, wherein the detachable members are pre-connected to each other by breakable portions therebetween, configured to break so as to detach two adjacent detachable members from each other.
23. A system according to Claim 22, wherein said detachable members have equal dimensions.
24. A system according to any one of claims 20 to 30, further comprising fastening means for fastening the wall covering frame to the housing when the wall covering frame is at its second position, while the at least one spacer maintains an offset distance therebetween.
25. The system according to any one of claims 14 to 24, wherein the housing is shaped and sized to accommodate the auxiliary conduit within the space in a compacted state thereof.
26. The system according to Claim 25, wherein the auxiliary conduit is accommodatable in the space in a compacted state thereof and extendable outside the space in a deployed state thereof.
27. The system according to Claim 26, further comprising an access opening for providing access to the space, and a detachable access cover partially covering said access opening configured to support said auxiliary conduit in said space in its compacted state and preventing said auxiliary conduit from switching from its compacted state to its deployed state.
