Description

TITLE UMBRELLA HOLDING DEVICE TECHNICAL FIELD The invention relates to the field of holding devices. More particularly, the invention relates to a holding device for an umbrella.
BACKGROUND Fig. 1 is a top view of a person entering or exiting a vehicle, while holding an umbrella.
It is problematic to enter or exit a vehicle 34 while holding an umbrella 24 in the hand 50.
WO2016191796, US20130256355 and US7967274 disclose an umbrella holding device, including attaching means and a holding element for allowing holding an umbrella 20 handle. However, these devices are not efficient and not convenient.
There is a long felt need to provide a solution to the above-mentioned and other problems of the prior art.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Embodiments, features, and aspects of the invention are described herein in conjunction with the following drawings: Fig. 1 is a top view of a person entering or exiting a vehicle, while holding an umbrella.
Fig. 2 is a side view of an umbrella holding device according to one embodiment of the invention; the umbrella of Fig. 1; and the vehicle window of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a top view of the umbrella holding device of Fig. 2, at the first step, being prior to initiating connecting of the 10 umbrella to the umbrella holding device.
Fig. 4 is a top view of the umbrella holding device of Fig. 2, at the second step, being upon initiating connecting of the umbrella to the umbrella holding device.
Fig. 5 is a top view of the umbrella holding device of Fig. 2, at the third step and fourth steps.
Fig. 6 depicts the releasing operation of the fourth step of Fig. 5.
The drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION The invention will be understood from the following detailed description of embodiments of the invention, which are meant to be descriptive and not limiting. For the sake of 25 brevity, some well-known features are not described in detail.
The reference numbers have been used to point out elements in the embodiments described and illustrated herein, in order to facilitate the understanding of the invention. They are meant to be merely illustrative, and not limiting. Also, the 5 foregoing embodiments of the invention have been described and illustrated in conjunction with systems and methods thereof, which are meant to be merely illustrative, and not limiting.
Fig. 2 is a side view of an umbrella holding device 10 according to one embodiment of the invention; the umbrella of Fig. 1; and the vehicle window of Fig. 1.
An umbrella holding device 10 according to one embodiment of the invention, is intended to be permanently attached to the internal side 52A of the window of the vehicle.
Umbrella holding device 10 allows quick connection of the handle 54 of umbrella 24 to the internal side 52A of the window of the vehicle.
Fig. 3 is a top view of the umbrella holding device of Fig. 2, at the first step, being prior to initiating connecting of the 20 umbrella to the umbrella holding device.
Umbrella holding device 10 includes a fastener/attaching means, such as a frame 14 having suction cups 12, for fastening it to internal side 52A of the window.
Each of arms 56A and 56B extend from fastener 12. Arm 25 56 is rotatable about a hinge 16A; and arm 56 is rotatable about a hinge 16B.
A telescopic extension 58A is slideable in relation to arm 56A, and extended by a spring 18A to direction 62A; and a telescopic extension 58B is slideable in relation to arm 56B, and extended by a spring 18B to direction 62B. The extending 5 of telescopic extensions 58A and 58B are one towards the other, thus telescopic extensions 58A and 58B meet one another at a point 64.
Fig. 4 is a top view of the umbrella holding device of Fig. 2, at the second step, being upon initiating connecting of the 10 umbrella to the umbrella holding device.
At the second step, the user presses handle 54 of the umbrella along direction 26A towards and onto meeting point 64, thus rotates arm 56A about hinge 16A, and rotates arm 56B about hinge 16B.
The rotation of arms 56A and 56B draws meeting point 64 towards between hinges 16A and 16B, and thus reduces the distance between meeting point 64 and hinge 16A, and further reduces the distance between meeting point 64 and hinge 16B.
The reduction of the distances slides telescopic extension 20 58A towards hinge 16A against spring 56A; and slides telescopic extension 58B towards hinge 16B against spring 56B.
Fig. 5 is a top view of the umbrella holding device of Fig. 2, at the third step and fourth steps.
The third step is once the user further presses handle 54 onto meeting point 64, thus further rotates arms 56A and 56B.
The rotation of arms 56A and 56B draws meeting point 64 away from between hinges 16A and 16B, and thus increases the distance between meeting point 64 and hinge 16A, and increases the distance between meeting point 64 and hinge 5 16B.
The increase of the distances slides telescopic extension 58A away from hinge 16A, with the accompanying force of spring 56A; and slides telescopic extension 58B away from hinge 16B, with the accompanying force of spring 56B.
In contrast to the state of Fig. 3 and Fig. 4, wherein the springs are loaded, at the state of Fig. 5, being after the third step, springs 56A and 56B are unloaded.
At the unloaded state of springs 56A and 56B, the end 60A of telescopic extension 58A being a first jaw, and the end 15 60B of telescopic extension 58B being a second jaw, form together an embracing structure/holding state 72 for holding handle 54 of the umbrella.
Thus, holding of handle 54 requires applying small force by the user to unload springs 56A and 56B.
At the fourth step, the user may release handle 54 by pulling handle 54 back to direction 26B.
The releasing of handle 54 from umbrella holding device 10 requires applying significant force 26B by the user to load springs 56A and 56B.
Fig. 6 depicts the releasing operation of the fourth step of Fig. 5.
The significant force 26B on handle 54 is further applied on the vehicle door 32, and rotation of door 32 in relation to 5 the vehicle body might hinder force 26B of handle 54 in relation to door 32. However, since the user is located facing internal side 52A of the window of the vehicle, the body of the user, indicated by the leg 42, can press door 32, for succeeding in applying force 26B of handle 54 in relation to door 32.
In contrast, weak force 26A for making umbrella holding device 10 hold umbrella handle 54, is sufficient, and thus there is no need to apply opposing force on door 32.
Thus, in one aspect, the invention is directed to an 15 umbrella holding device (10), including: - attaching means (12, 14), for attaching the umbrella holding device (10) to the internal side (52A) of a rotatable vehicle door (32); and — a holding element (GOA) extending from the attaching 20 means (12), for allowing holding the umbrella handle (54) to the holding element (60A), thereby the user's hand (50) is free.
The holding element (GOA) may include two jaws (GOA, 25 GOB), for forming together, by pressing (26A) the umbrella handle (54) onto the two jaws (GOA, GOB), a holding state (72), for holding the umbrella handle (54), and - ו - for forming together, by pulling (26B) the umbrella handle (54) from the two jaws (GOA, GOB), a removed state, in which the umbrella handle (54) is removable.
The umbrella holding device (10) may further include: - a spring (ISA, 18B) for each of the two jaws (GOA, GOB), the springs (ISA, IBB) being loaded at the removed state, and being unloaded at the holding state, thereby the holding of the umbrella handle (54) is operable by slight hitting of the umbrella handle (54) onto the two !0 jaws (GOA, GOB), thereby unloading the springs (ISA, 18B), and the removal of the umbrella handle (54) is operable by massive pulling of the umbrella handle (54) from the two jaws (GOA, GOB) while resisting the rotatable vehicle door 15 (32) by the user's body (42) located thereagainst, thereby loading the springs (ISA, IBB).
The umbrella holding device (10) may further include: - two arms (56A, 56B), each being rotatable by a hinge (IGA, 16B), wherein each of the two jaws (GOA, GOB) telescopically extends from one of the two arms (56A, 56B).
The two arms (56A, 56B) may be configured such that the pressing (26A) of the umbrella handle (54) onto the two jaws (GOA, GOB) rotates the two arms (56A, 56B) one in relation to the other about the hinges (16A, 16B), thereby changing the distance between the two arms (56A, 56B), thereby changing the pressure of the springs between the two arms.
