Claims (17)

1. Sealing band for a projectile, the band being characterised in that it comprises a front sub-band containing at least two sectors, the sub-band having at least a conical profile in a tight fit with the matching profile of a groove of the projectile, a tip of the conical profile being placed towards a rear section of the projectile, with the sub-band attached to the projectile by. a cylindrical skirt .
2. Sealing band according to claim 1, characterised in that the skirt has on its internal surface means to allow its friction-type connection with the sub-band.
3. Sealing band according to claim 2, characterised in that the skirt has an internal circular collar for the sub-band .
4. Sealing band according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that it has a layer of a sealing material placed at the rear of the sub-band or the internal collar of the skirt.
5. Sealing band according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the skirt has a length between 50% and 80% of the projectile calibre.
6. Sealing band according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that each sub-band section has at the level of each of its lateral edges at least one indentation intended to cooperate with a corresponding indentation of a neighbouring section so as to form a sealing deflecting plate for the propellant gases.
7. Sealing band according to claim 6, characterised in that a flexible sealing material is placed in the (deflecting) plates and at the level of a rear section of the sub-band.
8. Sealing band according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the skirt of the band is over-calibre at the level of a rear section of the sub-band.
9. Sealing band according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that it is of sub-calibre at least at the level of a front section.
10. Arrow projectile comprising a sub-calibre core held by a sabot with a calibre made of at least two segments, said projectile having a band according to claim 9 and characterised in that the sabot has a pusher plate (PP) located axially in front of the transversal plane (PM) passing through the gravity centre of the complete projectile, the pusher plate containing at least one groove for the sub-band to fit in.
11. Arrow projectile according to claim 10, characterised in that the deflecting plates separating the various sub-band sectors are alternatively integrated with the plan lines separating the segments of the sabot.
12. Arrow projectile according to any one of claims 10 to 11, characterised in that each segment from the sabot has a rear calibre guiding support.
13. Arrow projectile according to any one of claims 10 to 12, characterised in that each segment of the sabot has a reinforcing rib extending longitudinally to the back of the pusher plate (PP) .
14. Arrow projectile according to claim 13, characterised in that the rib is in contact with the skirt of the band.
15. Arrow projectile according to claim 14, characterised in that the skirt of the band is provided with longitudinal internal grooves in which the ribs are fitted in.
16. Ammunition consisting of a casing enclosing a propellant charge and including an airflow projectile according to any one of claims 10 to 15, the ammunition characterised in that the skirt of the band is attached to a fastening ring fixed at the casing.
17. Ammunition according to claim 16, characterised in that part of the propellant charge is placed in the skirt of the band.
