A process for structuring a surface (10) with at least one layer (12) having a polymer, and hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions, obtained (sic) by production of a latent structure in the first layer (12) via a coordinated (sic) modification device (16), with addition of a gaseous volatile solvent as modification agent over at least one working time interval to a local limited region of surface (10). <??>A process for structuring a surface (10) with at least one layer (12) having a polymer, and hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions, obtained (sic) by production of a latent structure in the first layer (12) via a coordinated (sic) modification device (16), for production of a type-form (10) for offset printing, with selective addition of a gaseous volatile solvent as modification agent over at least one working time interval to a local limited region of surface (10). <??>Independent claims are included for: <??>(1) A device for structuring the surface (12) as described above; <??>(2) A type-form illuminator having at least one structuring device; <??>(3) Printing equipment having at least one structuring device; <??>(4) A printing machine.
