Description

REINFORCEMENT FOR CARDBOARD BOXES ΐιιηρη mxD9ij7 nay 71 τ·»π BOIX MAQUINARIA, S.A. & Doron KATZIN C: 21889 REINFORCEMENT FOR CARDBOARD BOXES OBJECT OF THE INVENTION As is expressed in the title of this specification, the present invention refers to a reinforcement for card-board boxes, that consists of an advantageous reinforcement sheet in the bottom, which will be attached directly by means of a suitable glue.
Hence, by including this new reinforcement element the box becomes more rigid and resistant, since the weakest areas are made stronger.
On the other hand, the boxes to which this novel reinforcement is applied, can be formed with one or more stamped cardboard sheets.
It is also important to point out the fact that the reinforcement of the invention is applicable to normal boxes without stacking means as well as to boxes that can be stacked.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Presently numerous types of carboard boxes are known, all of which are formed from a stamped sheet provided with the folds and cuts needed to form or assemble the corresponding box.
Some of the boxes have in their vertical corners some reinforcement columns for stacking.
Others have double walls in the front ends or sides.
All of the cardboard boxes have a simple bottom, which, at times, is not resistant enough to support or hold correctly the weight of the goods that the respective box contains, with the subsequent danger that said bottom is liable to give way or break.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION In order to overcome the problems and inconveniences mentioned in the preceding section, the invention proposes a reinforcement for cardboard boxes comprised of a novel and advantageous reinforcement sheet, which will be glued with adhesive to the bottom of the box it^ self that is formed from one or more stamped sheets provided with the cuts and folds needed to form or assemble the box, which will have among other elements, side walls, front ends and sides, as well as a bottom, to which, as it has already been mentioned above, the corresponding reinforcement sheet will be attached. This reinforcement sheet is capable of having in two of its opposite edges and preferably those coinciding.; with the sides of the box, both laps emerging from said edges, whrch will fold in a right angle to be naturally adhered to the inside surfaces of the larger side walls or sides of the box.
Hence, thanks to the inclusion of the reinforcement sheet, the box becomes more rigid and more resistant, as the weakest areas like the bottom and the center parts of the sides or larger side walls, are reinforced.
The forming process of the box, as well as the coupling and fastening process of the reinforcement sheet are done automatically by means of a suitable machine and device, respectively. The stacking of the empty boxes is also an automatic process. ' Hereinafter to provide a better understanding of this specification and forming an integral part of the same, a series of figures in which the object of the invention has been represented with an illustrative and non-restrictive manner is attached hereto.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 is a perspective view of a reinforcement for cardboard boxes, object of the invention. The re-inforcement consists of a novel reinforcement sheet attached in general, to the bottom of the box.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a device for gluing the sheet-like reinforcements to the bottom of cardboard boxes. This figure also includes a device for stacking said boxes, as well as one part of the 113460/2 - 4 - ox forming machines.
DESC IPTION OF THE PFREFERRED EMBODIMENT Making reference to the numbering used in figure 1. , a cardboard box that includes the reinforcement of the invention is shown and said box is formed from a stamped sheet that has a series of folds and cuts needed to assemble a pa ll l ed box, which- includes among other elements, a bottom (1) , the side walls, two sides (2) and two front ends (3) ; the front ends being provided with bo tli center windows (4) in order to grasp and carry the box by and .
On the other hand and so that the box is more re.", i.s-tant, the inclusion of the reinforcemen of "the invention formed by the novel reinforcement sheet (5) that is glued to the bottom (1) by means of an adhesive or glue, ha.'? been provided for. This reinfo cement sheet (5) is capable of including some side laps (6) emerging from the larcjer edges of said reinf rcement sheet (5) , said side laps (G) folding in a dihedral angle to be glued on the inside surfaces of the sides (2.) Although in figure 1 the smaller edges (7) of the reinforcement sheet (5) remain free, they could also be extended in other extensions similar to the side laps (6) to be likewise abutted against the inside surfaces of the · front ends (3) .
With the described arrancjomen , the box in question will have a noteworthy rigidity and resistence due to the advantageous reinforcemen sheet (5) which will strengthen the weakest areas, such as the bottom (1) and the center parts of the sides (2) upon which - the corres onding laps (6) that are not very high will be attached .
Figure 2 shows a device (8) for gluing the sheetlike reinforcements (5) to the bottom (1) of cardboard boxes, said device co responding to patent of invention no. -9400716, at the same time that said device includes an automatic stacker (9) of the boxes, once the sheetlike reinforcements (5) have been adhered one by one to the cited boxes. Figure 2 also includes one part of a cardboard box forming machine (10). The boxes go from the~cited machine (10) to the device (8), by means of an intermediate conveyor belt (11.)
