Abstract

An insulated clean-in-place (CIP) hot-wash trough system, with incorporated inlet and outlet ports, which can be used in dairy industry or associated industry to aid with the efficient cleaning of dairy equipment is described. The invention is a fully insulated, covered, double water trough, which reduces heat loss during operation. The unit also comprises of port holes which allow for the easy installation of required piping during operation. If piping is not required, these can be blocked off with supplied plugs to aid with reducing thermal loss. The unit also comprises of a detergent supply pipe which allows for the placement of detergent powder bars during the wash cycle. This further improves cleaning standards of the dairy pipework and associated equipment. <Figure 1>

Description

Therefore, this invention is designed to ensure all heated water which is pumped into the trough maintains its temperature through being thermally insulated. This ensures the temperature remains at the correct level for longer periods of time and thus improves the effectiveness of both pre-rinse and wash stages. dissolution of the detergent occurs, leading to best possible rinse cycle results.
Statement of Invention The objective of this invention is to provide a CIP Hot Wash Trough which is designed with thermal insulation to ensure supplied water to the trough remains at optimum temperature for as long as possible.
Furthermore, the invention has been designed with a port for the placement of detergent powder which ensure optimum dissolution of the powder occurs during use. required pipework during operation.

Figure 2 is a front section view of trough illustrating the pre-rinse and clean basins.
Figures 3 is an isometric view of the independent lids for the trough.
Figure 4 is a section view of the port holes plugs used on the lids.
Figure 5 is an isometric view of the water trough with the lid section removed.
Detailed description As can be seen in Figure 1, the unit comprises of two basins within a trough system. This is the pre-rinse trough (1 ), and the wash trough (2) which are supported by six legs (3). The unit is fitted with two lids. The pre-rinse lid (4), and the wash lid (5) which may be removed independently of each other. Each trough (1 ), (2), are fitted with manual draining valves (6) which may be used for the draining outwards of the contents of trough (1 ), (2) when required.
Both troughs (1), (2) are both insulated accordingly. In Figure 2, a stainless-steel internal construct (7) is insulated with required materél (8). The insulation is then &vered in a water- resistant materigal (9). The base of each trouggh (26) is designed with a gradient fall to the draining valves (6). This is to aid with draining as required. An insulated layer (28) is fitted between pre-rinse trough (1) and wash trough (2) In Figure 3, the pre-rinse lid (4), and wash lid (5), can be viewed. The pre-rinse lid (4) comprises fitted with three port holes (30) which are of vgarious diameters to allow for the placement of required process pipework. A pre-rinse inspection hatch (11) is installed via hinges (12) to the cover section (10). The pre-rinse inspection hatch (11) is also fitted with a handle (13) for improved ergonomics. improves the dissolution of the detergent.
As per Figure 4, a cross section of both lids (4), (5) can be seen. An outer Stainless-Steel layer (22) is used to cover the layer of insulation (23) within. A plug (20) is used to ensure optimum insulation during the non-use of the relevant port holes. The plug (20) is constructed from a manufactured % to be secured through the ufse of an interference fit within‘: both lids (4), (5).
As per Figure 5, a pipe installation port (25) is installed in the pre-rinse trough (1). This is for the installation of additional pipework if such required. The trough sections (1), (2) are fitted with a recess (29) in the top of each to allow the placement of the lid sections (4) (5) respectively.
