In which case, the can is suspended from the rung. However, whiie this frees one of the painter’s hands, the can is unsteady and can easi1y be tilted, $86406 thereby spi11ing the paint. Furthermore. the hand1e and the hook restrict access of the brush to the paint in the can.
There is therefore a need for a iadder attachment supporting a paint can on a Iadder. The present invention is directed towards providing such a Tadder attachment.
Statement of Invention According to the invention, there is provided a 1adder attachment for supporting a paint can on a Tadder, the Iadder attachment comprising; A receiving means for receiving a can, a 1adder engaging means connected to the receiving means for engaging the Iadder so that the can is supported with an open mouth of the can facing upwardiy and an extending brush hoider that holds a paint brush over the open mouth of the receiving means.
In one embodiment of the invention, the receiving means comprises a base member. Advantageousiy, upward1y extending side wa11s extend from the base member, defining with the base member a ho11ow interior region for receiving the can.
In another embodiment of the invention, the side wa11 extends upward1y to a position beiow the 1eve1 of the top of the paint can.
In another embodiment of the invention, the iadder engaging means comprises a 1adder engaging bar for pivotaiiy engaging a rung of the iadder and connecting means extend from the iadder engaging bar to the receiving means for maintaining the base of the receiving means substantiaiiy horizontai.
In another embodiment of the invention, the iadder engaging bar is siidabie into the bore of the rung.
In another embodiment of the invention, there is a paint brush hoider which extends approximate1y Scm upwards from the intersection of the iadder engaging bar and the paint can receiving means. Advantageously it aiiows a paint brush to hang over a paint can so any excess paint may be saved. It works on the basis of using a magnet to hold the paint brush.
The advantages of the invention are many. A particuiar important advantage of the invention is that it frees one of the painter’s hands. which can be used for gripping the iadder and thus steadying the painter on the iadder. attachment according to the invention is that there is Another advantage of the ladder very 1itt1e danger of a paint can fa11ing from the iadder.
