Abstract

This is a more efficient and effective method of removing dog hairs from carpets, by utilizing rubber studs. It dispenses with the problem of clogged up brushes and ineffective vacuuming.

Description

RUBBER STUDDED DOG HAIR REMOVING DEVICE To be manufactured as an accessory for carpet vacuum cleaners, or as a long handled broom.
SPECIFICATION A series of raised rubber studs, protruding from a metal or plastic base, are arranged in lines and replaces the bristle brushes on the head of the ordinary household vacuum cleaner.
The studs, which are raised approximately 1/4 above the surface, are off-set in alternate rows, approximately 12 studs to a row and 6 rows deep, with a central opening in the metal head for vacuum suction.
This can be interchanged with the ordinary head provided with vacuum cleaners and would have the same overall dimensions and be attached in the same manner.
Rough proportions would probably be approx. 11 . 4.
NOTES 1. The device may not be suitable on very long shaggy carpets. 2. The device may be adapted to rollers in an upright vacuum cleaner.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS Where a normal vacuum cleaner fails to lift up dog hairs which are embedded into the carpet by the animal rolling the hair shaft down into the pile, some of the hairs may be removed from the surface by suction, but they mostly get caught in the bristles making it necessary to stop and clean the brush regularly. When the rubber studded device is drawn against the natural pile of the carpet, the rubber, which has a slightly stickey texture, gets a greater purchase on the hairs and cleans the carpet better than vacuuming or ordinary brushing. If the device is manufactured as a broom it can be used by sweeping it against the pile with very little pressure and will roll the hairs together into compact heaps.
