Abstract

This invention relates to a process for generating accessible database-backed, web based documents on a user computing device 3 having access to a web server 5 which in turn has access to a database 5. The user computing device has a document generator application 15 and a word processing application 17. The word processing application hs access to a document generator template having a document template table comprising cells arranged in a plurality of rows and columns. A base document is created from the template by inserting headings from a source document into cells of the table. Bookmarks are placed in adjacent cells in the table indicating the position of a database defined field or a user defined filed. The user defined fields are defined, the base document is converted into a web-usable format such as HTML and the document is published including providing any necessary access paths so that it is accessible to others. <Figure 2>
