Abstract
A glazed window assembly comprises a window frame (10), a glazing panel (12) mounted in the window frame, a plurality of bead-retaining clips (18) located along at least one edge of the panel, and a glazing bead (32) extending in common along and retained in position by the clips. Each clip includes a first tongue (26) which extends rearwardly between the frame and the edge of the panel for retaining the clip in position relative to the panel, and a second tongue (28) which extends forwardly into a recess (30) in the rear surface of the glazing bead, the second tongue being offset upwardly relative to the first tongue. <Figure1>
Description
GLAZED WINDOW ASSEMBLY
A glazed window assembly comprises a window frame (10), a glazing panel (12) mounted in the window frame, a plurality of bead-retaining clips (18) located along at least one edge of the panel, and a glazing bead (32) extending in common along and retained in position by the clips. Each clip includes a first tongue (26) which extends rearwardly between the frame and the edge of the panel for retaining the clip in position relative to the panel, and a second tongue (28) which extends forwardly into a recess (30) in the rear surface of the glazing bead, the second tongue being offset upwardly relative to the first tongue. .
Claims (13)
1. A glazed window assembly comprising a window frame, a glazing y panel mounted in=-the window frame, a plurality of bead-retaining clips located along at least one edge of the panel, and a glazing bead extending in common along and retained in position by the clips, each clip including at least one tongue which extends rearwardly between the frame and the edge of the panel for retaining the clip in position relative to· the panel and at least one bead-retaining member which extends forwardly into a recess in the rear surface of the glazing bead, the bead-retaining member being offset upwardly relative to the .tongue.
2. A glazed window-assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein each clip is an integral moulding of rigid plastics material.
3. A glazed window assembly as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the leading edge of the upper surface of the tongue is sloped for wedge-like insertion of the tongue between the frame and the edge of the panel.
4. A glazed window assembly as claimed in claim 3, wherein the tongue has two opposite lateral edges and the upper surface of the tongue is also sloped along said lateral edges.
5. A glazed window-assembly as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the tongue has a plurality of reversely-directed teeth which bite into the frame to pi29046.rev resist withdrawal of the tongue from between the frame and the edge of the panel.
6. A glazed window assembly as—claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the recess in the rear of the bead is a narrow slot and the bead retaining member comprises a further tongue inserted in the slot.
7. A glazed window assembly as claimed in claim 6, wherein the- further tongue has a plurality of reversely-directed teeth which bite into the opposite sides of.the slot to resist withdrawal of the glazing bead from the clip.
8. A glazed window assembly as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the first and further tongues are integrally joined by a strip of material which is generally parallel to the glazing panel and which has upper and lower substantially parallel edges, the first tongue extending rearwardly from the lower edge of the strip and the further tongue extending forwardly from the upper edge of the strip, so that the clip has a generally step-shaped cross-section.
9. A glazed window assembly as claimed in claim 8, wherein the strip has a plurality of ribs on its rear surface for spacing the strip from the panel.
10. A glazed window assembly as claimed in claim 8 or 9, further including' a pair of tabs extending foxwax.dly from the lower edge of the strip, each positioned laterally beyond a respective end of the further pi29046.rev tongue, the tabs extending into a rebate in the bottom surface of the bead.
11. A clip for use in a glazed joii.ndow assembly of the kind comprising a frame, at least one glazing panel mounted in the frame, at least one glazing bead mounted on the frame adjacent one face of the panel, and a plurality of clips positioned along the frame to retain the glazing bead on the frame, the clip including at least one tongue for extending between the frame and the edge of the panel for retaining the clip in position relative to the panel and at least one bead retaining member offset from and extending in the opposite direction to the tongue for extending into a recess in the rear of the glazing bead.
12. A glazed window assembly substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
13. A clip for use in a glazed window assembly substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings . F.R. KELLY & CO. AGENTS FOR THE APPLICANTS
