Description
Strike assistance device consists of a harness that teaches * straight arm lock through the golfer’s control of the golfer’s pendulum arm which in turn controls the angle of swing of the golf club driving a golf ball off a tee through force of strike of club face onto golf ball impact face. The principle being that the hit or strike of golf club face has to be ninety degree straight onto the golf ball impact face in order to propel the golf ball in the direction desired by the golfer. During golf game practice or actual golf game play, the golfer endeavours to apply the straight arm principle of controlling the pendulum arm, that is, the arm of the hand in uppermost grip of the handle of the golf club during swing with maximum force of the golf club.
In this instance, illustration is made of golf club swung from area of the golfer’s right shoulder, which is the result of the golfer’s left arm being the pendulum arm, in turn enforcing a straight arm lock of the left elbow if maximum result of the swing is to be obtained, a difficult procedure which necessitates much pract—i
This strike assistance/practice device is to teach a golfer physically and mentally what it feels like to have the pendulum arm locked into a straight line at the elbow.
The strike assist/practice device consists of three parts.
(1) A static strap-on elbow harness consisting of a single rigid section of material, for instance plastic, strapped onto the back of the golfer’s elbow when the golfer’s arm is in straight position, resulting in straighjelbow lock pendulum arm effect. Whether exercie swinging indoors with or without a golf club, or outdoors with a golf club driving a golf ball off a tee, the golfer becomes exercise conditioned to straight pendulum arHofuse of the golf club.
(2) An elbow control harness worn in two parts; one section worn strapped above the left elbow, the other section worn strapped on below the left elbow, left arm in this instance being the pendulum arm. Both sections are worn back of the elbow, so that when the pendulum arm is practice or play locked at the elbow, that is when the pendulum arm is in a straight line, a touch contact is effected between the two device sections, in turn activating a battery powered light or a battery powered audio signal, or both, thereby signalling to the device wearer that the pendulum arm is true locked and the signal remains operative during the pendulum arm down swing as long as contact is maintained through correct lock of the elbow, and on through impact of club face against golf ball impact face.
If signal is lost in the down swing, it indicates loss device contact, in turn indicating a fault in the section of swing where signal is lost.
The elbow lock signal device can be worn in practice, with or without a golf club, which gives the wearer advantage of indoor or outdoor use by the wearer.
When used with a golf club, the device will enforce a more correct body posture, conditioning the muscles and reflexes involved in maintaining a straight pendulum arm elbow lock during swing of the golf club.
(3) Strike record/diagram chart is a simgle section of material, affixed temporarily to the golf club face, on principle of a band aid, or a mild glue on, or affixed in any manner desired, the importance of correct place adhesion of the record/diagram chart being imperative in order to have precise reading of golf club face onto golf ball on tee, consistently on any one golf club in use on the strike improvement elbow lock exercise for which patent v is being sought. For instance a consistent tear on the 7 chart would indicate a faulty angle of strike habitually, and could be remedied throu h elbow lock,g
There will be a coloured bimLlseye on tefe^cnart, with a line angling upward from either ^siie^./ra'TnOB’^.ng overhead to indicate at topmost point centre1 of bullseye below, thereby subiiminally conditioning feoifer’s eves and brain.
Claims (6)
1. What I claim is (1) Λ golf practice device to enable a golfer to strike accurately a golf ball, defined as an arm strap on harness device with audio and/or light warning signals.
2. (2) Λ device in claim (1) in which the two strap on bands of the harness are worn above and below the same elbow joint.
3. (3) Λ device as claimed in claim (1) in which a warning signal is given when the correct arm position prevails. (1) Λ device as claimed in claim (1) in which the strap on bands are snugly held in place by velcro compatable strips.
4. (5) Λ device as claimed in claim (3) in which the signal is generated by electric current contact.
5. (6) A device incorporating an arm harness for golfing in any of the preceding claims.
6. (7) A device as claimed in the preceding claims in which an extra strapping defined as a shoulder harness is utilized to enqure correct positioning of the primary arm bands. (?) Apnaratus suitable for use to assist/practice golf strokes, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings .
