Abstract

A building system 10 comprising a generally central region 11 in a floor area 12 and a plurality of display areas 13 disposed around the central region 11. The central region 11 comprises a passageway defined by a first pair of partition members 14 and a second pair of partition members 15. The first and second pairs of partition members are spaced apart to define a pair of opposite central openings 16 into said passageway.

Description

The present invention relates to a building system.
According to the invention there is provided a building system comprising a generally central region in a floor area and a plurality of display areas disposed around the central region, said central region comprising a passageway defined by a first pair of partition members, and a second pair of partition members, said first and second pairs of partition members being spaced apart to define a pair of opposite central openings into said passageway.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the single accompanying drawing which is a plan view of a building system according to the invention.
Referring now to the drawing there is shown therein a building system generally indicated at 10 - 2 according to the invention. The building system 10 comprises a generally central region 11 in a floor area 12 and a plurality of display areas 13 disposed around the central region 11. The central region 11 comprises a passageway defined by a first pair of partition members 14 and a second pair of partition members 15.
As shown, the first and second pairs of partition members 14, 15 are spaced apart to define a pair of opposite central openings 16 into said passageway 11.
The partition members 14, are each connected to a further partition member 17 with the partition members 17 arranged to diverge away from the passageway 11. Similarly each partition member 15 is connected to a further partition member 18 with the partition members 18 arranged to diverge away from the passageway 11. The outermost end 19 of each partition member 18 is connected in conventional manner to a pillar 20. Similarly the outermost end 21 of each partition member 17 is connected in conventional manner to a pillar 22.
The display areas 13 disposed around the central region 11 are generally defined by partition members 30 and pillars 31. The display areas 13 comprise display areas 13a, 13b, 13c, 13d, 13e and 13f which are arranged with suitable shelving, display counters, or gondolas (not shown) for the display of various articles for sale for example liquor/tobacco, perfume/accessories, clothing, jewellery/watches, crystal/china and soft toys/gifts.
The floor area 12 is bounded by wall structures 40 and has a number of entrances and exits 41 for the travel of shoppers through the floor area.

Claims (4)

    CLAIMS :
  1. A building system comprising a generally central region in a floor area and a plurality of display areas disposed around the central region, said central region comprising a passageway defined by a first pair of partition members, and a second pair of partition members, said first and second pairs of partition members being spaced apart to define a pair of opposite central openings into said passageway.
  2. 2. A building system as claimed in Claim 1, wherein each one of said first and second pairs of partition members is connected to a further partition member which diverges away from said passageway.
  3. 3. A building system as claimed in Claim 2, wherein an outermost end of each further partition member is connected to a pillar.
  4. 4. A building system substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
