Abstract

A method for forming a shutter (2) for a micro disc in a form tool (4) comprises punching window openings (22, 23) and other openings in the shutter from an inside face (25) to an outside face (26) of a blank (3) during formation of the shutter (2). The inside face (25) is the face of the shutter (2) which in use bears on a housing of the micro disc. The method also includes the step of forming side walls (18, 19) and a connecting wall (20) of the shutter in two steps. In the first step the side walls (18, 19) are bent relative to the connecting wall (20) with an included angle of 135 DEG . In the second step each side wall is (18, 19) bent further upwardly to form an included angle of 90 DEG with the connecting member (20). Each side wall may be bent along its length (34) to improve engagement of edges (35) with the microdisc housing. <IMAGE> [GB2233810A]
