Abstract

A vehicle anti-theft apparatus 1 comprises a substantially tubular member 2, including a handbrake sleeve 3, connected via a universal joint 4 to a clamp member 5. The clamp member 5 has a slot 6 for receiving the shaft 7 of a vehicle gear lever 8. A locking mechanism 10 is slidably retained within the end 9 of the clamp member 5. The locking mechanism 10 includes a slide member 12, having side arms 13 for retaining the gear lever 8 in the slot 6 in the in use position of the apparatus. The vehicle handbrake 30 is in use, located within the handbrake sleeve 3, so that relative movement between the handbrake 30 and gear lever 8 is substantially prevented. <IMAGE> [GB2171968A]
