Abstract

1. Bearing arrangement having a roller bearing arranged in the bore hole of a bearing receiver, in which arrangement a spring band (7), provided with a separating slit in the direction of the circumference, is inserted between the outer ring (6) of the roller bearing (3) and the bore wall, characterized in that the spring band (7) consists of a straight, substantially flat, hardened steel band, corresponding in length to the bore hole circumference.

Description

2 Ohis invention relates to a bearing arrangementcomprising a roller bearing arranged in a mountingrecess of a bearing mounting.
With known bearing arrangements of this type5 (DE-OS 19 13 766), there is a problem that the outer ring (race) of the roller bearing tends to rotatein a bore forming the mounting recess, especiallywhen the bearing is constructed as a loose bearing, and the outer ring of the roller bearing can thus 10 not be pressed-fitted into the bore. Therefore in the known bearing arrangement, between the outerring of the roller bearing and the bore wall thereis inserted a rubber sleeve by which the outer ringis prevented from rotary movement. 15 The bearing brackets of machines containing the bearing mountings frequently are made of aluminium, and in small machines also of plastics. Becauseof the relatively poor strength of these bearingbracket materials, it is usual to insert into the 20 bearing mounting a ring which ^consists of a material of greater strength (e g. a steel ring). If necessarythe outer ring of the roller bearing must againbe secured against rotation with respect to sucha ring. 25 The present invention has been developed primarily, though not exclusively, with a view to provide abearing arrangement of the type described above,,in which the outer ring is secured against rotationby an abrasion-proof lining of the bearing mounting 30 itself.
According to the invention there is provided a bearing arrangement «1 comprising a roller bearing arranged in the bore holeof a bearing receiver, in which arrangement a springband, provided with a separating slit in the directionof the circumference, is inserted between the outer 5 ring of the roller bearing and the bore wall, the spring band consisting of a straight, substantially flat, hardened steel band, corresponding in length to the borehole circumference.
The two ends of a spring band’of this type extend 10 inevitably in rectilinear manner after being inserted into the bore. When the roller bearing is inserted, the ends and other arches present on the springband due to rolling stresses and cutting stressesare pressed against the bore wall and thus abut 15 the outer ring under stress, with the outer ring of the roller bearing thus being secured againstrotation. A simple axial securing of the spring bandin the bore may be achieved by providing outwardlyprojecting beads on the spring band which engage in corresponding depressions formed on the bore i 5 wall· If the beads are provided on one longitudinal v side of the spring band, then these can engage inthe recess normally present in bearing bores. Thusit is no longer necessary to have separately produceddepressions for the axial securing of the spring 10 band.
One embodiment of bearing arrangement accordingto the invention will now be described in detail,by way of example only, with reference to the accompanyingdrawings, in which:- 15 Figure 1 is an illustration of a roller bearing mounted in a bore of a bearing mounting via a resilientannular band; Figure 2 is a detail of the bearing arrangementshown in Figure 1; 20 Figure 3 is a development of the resilient annular band; Figure 4 is a section along the line IV-IVin Fig* 3; and Figure 5 is a sectional along the line V-V 25 in Figure 4.
Figure 1 designates a bearing bracket whichhas a bearing-mounting recess in the form of a bore2, which receives a roller bearing 3. The rollerbearing is located, with its inner ring (race) 4 30 on a shaft 5. Between the outer ring (race) 6 andthe wall of the bore 2 there is inserted a springband 7.
As can be seen from the detailed representationin Figure 2, on one longitudinal side of the spring 35 band 7, beads 8 are impressed to project radiallyoutwards, and are hooked behind the edge 9 of a recess/0 provided in the bore 2. The spring band * 7 is thus secured in the bore 2 against axial withdrawal.Instead of the beads 8, there may also be providedon the spring band 7 an encircling edge which engagesinto the recess 10 and which projects radially. 5 The spring band 7 shown in Figure 3 comprises a flat, crimped.and hence straight steel plate stripwhich corresponds in its length with the innercircumference of the mounting bore 2. On onelongitudinal side of the steel plate strip several 10 beads 8 are embossed. These beads are pressed ina curve (Figure 5) out of the plane of the steelplate strip. On one side of the beads 8 directedtowards the middle of the steel plate strip, theseare cut off in their middle section with respect 15 to the flat running part of the steel plate strip,so that there is a sharp edge 11 (Figure 4), whichcan lie flush against the edge 9 of the recess 10,and thus guarantee a good axial holding of the springband. 20 The flat spring band 7 is laid into the bore 2 . Thus the beads 8 reach into the recess 10 andat the same time the spring band 7 abuts the roundbore wall. Only in the region of its two ends(separated by a narrow dividing slot) does the spring 25 band 7 not fully abut the bore wall, but at least one, and preferably both of these ends run in straightlines for a short distance. Upon insertion of theroller bearing 3 these rectilinearly extending endregions of the spring band 7 are then pressed onto 30 the bore wall. Thus these end areas abut the outerring 6 of the roller bearing 3 under prestress andgrip this firmly so that it can not rotate. Thespring band 7 at the same time provides an abrasion-proof lining of the bore 2.
