Description

The invention relates to a device for automatically stunning butcher's beasts, in particular pigs, comprising two synchronously and parallel running endless conveying belts, which define between them a V-shaped passage, a floor being provided beneath these belts having a portion which slopes downwardly in the direction of travel of the belts and a couple of electrodes which may be brought into engagement with the head of an animal.
To prevent that a pig or another animal following a pig which is stunned and being in contact with said pig obtains a current shock at a too early moment the invention provides for a second device also having two endless belts with the working surfaces being in the same inclined planes as the working surfaces of the belts of the first device, said second device being located in front of the first device, said two devices being located close to each other and the velocity of the belts of the second device being lower than the velocity of the corresponding belts of the device succeeding it.
In this way the animals to be stunned are separated from each other in a reliable way with of course the electrodes within the device succeeding the said second device.
The invention now will be described with reference to the drawings.
Fig. 1 shows a side view of the device according to the invention with some parts left away and 6 8 4 4 Fig. 2 is a front view of the device according to the invention.
The drawing shows a holding device comprising two sets of endless belts 1', 2' and 1, 2 arranged as to form a V-shaped passage whilst below the belts 1' and 2' a bottom 3 has been provided which in the beginning has a constant distance to the belts 1' and 2’ and subsequently slopes downwardly. The pigs which enter the device in the direction of arrow 4 loose the support at their feet due to the sloping bottom 3 and accordingly are clamped between the belts 1' and 2' and between the subsequent belts 1 and 2 with their bellies.
The arrangement is such that the belts V, 2' of the first device run with a lower velocity than the belts Ί, 2 of ihe subsequent second device so that the working surfaces of the first device move slower than the working surfaces of the subsequent device due to which a reliable separation of the animals or the like takes place.

Claims (2)

1. Device for automatically electrically stunning butcher's beasts, in particular pigs, comprising two synchronously and parallel running endless conveying belts, which define between 5 them a V-shaped passage, a floor being provided beneath these belts having a portion which slopes downwardly in the direction of travel of the belts and a couple of electrodes which may be brought into engagement with the head of an animal, characterized in that in front of the device consisting of the two endless conveying belts 10 which between them defines a V-shaped passage, a second similar device is positioned also having two endless belts the working surfaces of which being in the same inclined planes as the working surfaces of the belts of the first mentioned device, said second device being at a close distance from the belts of the first 15 mentioned device and wherein the velocity of the belts of the said second device are lower than the velocity of the corresponding belts of the device succeeding it.
