1517558 Unsaturated bis-silanes RHONE POULENC INDUSTRIES 30 Sept 1975 [1 Oct 1974 11 Feb 1975] 40056/75 Heading C3S Novel silanes have the general formula wherein each n is 1, 2 or 3; each R is a C2-10 ethylenically unsaturated group; each R<1> is an alkyl, haloalkyl or cyanoalkyl group or an optionally halogenated aryl or alkaryl group; each R<2> is a C1-4 alkylene group; each X is -O- -S- or -NR<5>, or -CO-O-, -CO-S, -CS-O-, -CS-S- or CO-NR<5> linked to R<2> via N, O or S (R<5> being H or C1-4 alkyl); each F has 1-30 C atoms and is (i) an optionally chlorinated divalent aliphatic cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical or a divalent O-, S- or N-containing heterocyclic group, or a chain of such groups linked directly or via -O-, -S-, -NR<6>-, -CONR<6>-, -CO-, -COO-, -SO2, -N=N-, or -PO(R<6>)- (R<6> being C1-4 alkyl, cyclohexyl or phenyl, or, on N, H) or (ii) a benzene-, naphthalene- or pyridine - triyl radical or -C6H4-E-C6H3= (E being a direct bond or C1-4 alkylene or alkylidene, -O-, -CO-, -COO-, -SO2 or -CONH-), in which one valency is attached to X and the other two to the -CO- groups of T below when T is -CO-N-CO-; and each # is wherein R<3> is H or C1-6 alkyl, R<11>, R<111>, and R<1111> are di, tri- and tetra-valent organic groups, an T is -CO-O-, -CO-S-, -NH-CO-O-, -NH-CO-S-, -CO-NR<3>- or when # is divalent and when r is trivalent. They may be made by reaction of one or more silanes wherein Y is -OH, -SH, -NCO, -COCl, -COOR<5>, -NHR<3> attached to divalent #, or attached to trivalent #, with a compound COCl2, H2O, R<11>Y2, as appropriate. In the examples the silane ViMe2SiCH2O-C6H4-NH2 is reacted with [1] terephthaloyl chloride, [3] pyromellitic anhydride or [4] diphenylmethane diisocyanate; the silane ViMe2SiCH2O-CO-C6H4NH2 is reacted with [6] terephthaloyl chloride; the silane ViMesSiCH2O-C6H4-COCl is reacted with [2] methylene dianiline, [5] di-hydroxyethyl terephthalate, [7] O[SiMe2-CH2CH2CH2O-C6H4-NH2]2, [20] CH2[C6H4-NHCO-C6H4-NH2]2, [21] p-C6H4[COO-C6H4-NH2]2, [22] H2N-C6H4-COO-C6H4-NH2, and [23] p-C6H4(NH2)2; and the silane Vi2MeSiCH2O-C6H4-COCl is reacted with [24] methylene dianiline.
