Abstract

1467130 Self adhesive tapes RHONE POULENC INDUSTRIES 27 March 1975 [29 March 1974] 13013/75 Heading B2E Self-adhesive films comprise a saturated polyester support having, on one face thereof, an adhesive layer comprising a copolymer of vinyl acetate and a maleate diester of an aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 4 to 10 carbon atoms. The support may be an unstretched or mono- or bi-axially stretched or past-stretched film of polyethylene terephthalate and may be of thickness 3.5 to 350 microns. The support may be metallised or printed. The opposite face may be rendered anti-adhesive, for example with a layer of a silicone. The adhesive polymer may contain 40-65% by weight of vinyl acetate and 60-35% of the maleate ester. Particularly suitable are copolymers of vinyl acetate and 2-ethyl-hexyl maleate. 1-60% of a resin to supply 'tack' may be present, e.g. colophony and polymers such as polybutadiene, and styrene/butadiene elastomers. The adhesive may be applied as a melt or solution, by extrusion, lick coating or roll coating. (From GB1467130 A) [FR2265836A1]
