Abstract

1513720 Reinforcement for tyre with tread bars DUNLOP Ltd 9 May 1975 [17 May 1974] 22015/74 Heading B7C A tyre having tread bars 20, 21 arranged in herringbone configuration comprises a reinforcing ply or plies (e.g. carcass ply or plies) of parallel cord fabric extending on both sides of the mid circumferential plane 22, and a strip 21 of parallel cord fabric overlying the reinforcing ply (or plies) on that side of the plane where the cords of the or the radially outer reinforcing ply make a smaller angle with overlying major portions of tread bars, the cords of the strip making an angle of at least 30‹ with the major portions of tread bars overlying it. The tyre may include two, four or six carcass plies, and the strip may be of the same fabric as, or a different fabric to, that of the carcass plies. The carcass plies may have a bias angle of 36- 38 degrees and the angle which the cords of the strip make with the overlying major portions of the tread bars is preferably in the range 65-90 degrees.
