Abstract

1330308 Electroluminescent display devices F GELDER 14 Sept 1970 [15 Sept 1969 18 Dec 1969] 43879/70 Heading G5C A digitally controllable electroluminescent display 1 comprises a data-responsive means, e.g. a computer 26, that derives the quantities to be displayed from its input data and provides an output signal which controls the light emitting lengths of the electroluminescent strips 3 which are proportional to the value of quantities characterizing a business or manufacturing enterprise. The strips may be combined with optical alarm signals 13. The quantities represented may be various parameters involved in production planning or operational research. The device is used in conjunction with a mathematical model of a process defined in the computer. The strips 3 may be arranged in parallel pairs and have various colours or widths to help in distinguishing the separate strips. One strip may display the theoretical quantity, and the other in that pair the actual achieved value. Two display boards may be linked by the computer. In one embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the strips are replaced by circles on which the quantities are represented by light emitting sectors. The input signals to the computer may be applied via a digital signal generator and encoder. [GB1330308A]
