In a prilling tower for ammonium nitrate, urea and other substances forming melts or concentrated solution, the shaft walls are made of a plastics sheet or a plastics-coated fabric. The plastics material may be polyethylene, chlorosulphonated polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride and the walls are preferably of nylon fabric coated with polyvinyl chloride. The walls may be attached to a framework which can be shaken or vibrated to remove deposits. [GB1209886A]
