ABSTRACT A min [or vessels that have been Iilled with liquid. It comprises at icasl two inlciunmcclcd layers (1, 2}. bctvwen which an information carrier (4) or an ii1I1u'in;uion (6) iisel I‘ is disposed. The inl‘orm:nion is secured I0 one ol‘ the layers. I he mat cam be broken upcn or turn opcn.
Description
Mat for glasses or drinking vessels A mat for a vessel that is filled with liquid is provided for use in being disposed, for example, under a tankard or a beer glass.
There are mats. known that are provided to be used under beer Germany these are referred to as “beer mats" (see enclosed lit: It is an object of the present invention to create a mat to be dis; vessels that are filled with liquid, preferably under tankards and An additional object of the present invention is to create a matt awarding a prize. is used as a lottery raffle ticket. An infomnatic includes the awarding of a prize and is disposed in the interior c participant in the awarding of the prize breaks open or tears opr and becomes aware of the prize on account of the access to ths carrier.
A technical resuit is a reduction in the effort required to take apz an increase in the liquid absorption capacity due to an additions Consequently, a mat is proposed which can be disposed under have been filled with liquid and which is characterised in that the includes at least two interconnected layers, an information Carrie disposed between the said layers, or, as an alternative, one of the said layers supporting the information, and in that the mat is configured with a possibility of be’ g broken open or torn open.
‘” |Eg60950 in addition, the mat is characterised in that a tearline for the breaking open or tearing open procedure is provided with notches or perforations. It is also possible to provide a weakened area in place of a tear line.
The mat is also characterised in that a layer and /or the information carrier are produced from a sheet-shaped material.
The invention is now described in more detail by way of exemplified embodiments and the drawings. in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a mat in its normal position, Figures 2 and 3 are perspective views of the mat in Figure 1 when the said mat has been broken downwards and upwards.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the mat in Figure 1 when its separated portions are pulled apart a little and an information canier becomes visible.
Figure 5 is a disposition similar to that in Figure 4, the information carrier now being situated freely between the portions of the mat.
Figure 6 is an exploded view in perspective of a mat, showing the disposition of an information carrier in the centre of the mat between the two layers of the said rnat.
Figure 7 is a perspective representation of the portions of a mat before it has been assembled. with an information carrier inserted in the one portion, Figure 8 is an exploded view in perspective of a mat, showing the disposition of an information itself on the lower layer of the two layers of the said mat.
Figures 9 — 12 are perspective views of a series of possible shapes of a mat, Figure 11 showing two tear lines and Figure 12 showing a weakened area where it is possible to break open the said mat.
The following references are used in the Figures; upper layer lower layer tear line information carrier weakened area information module.
-I’-‘~(»JI\)._; The basic principle used in the mat is as follows: The infonnation is concealed inside the mat; in order to obtain access to the information, the mat has to be destroyed. ' The mat typically comprises two layers 1, 2, which are secured together, for example, by means of adhesive. The adhesive connection should be secured such that once an attempt has been made to separate the layers. it is not possible to return the said layers back to their original position. To produce the mat, a plate made from cardboard can be used as the material.
Once the layers have been assembled together, a region is formed in the central portion of the mat, in which region the layers 1, 2 adjoin each other closely but are not secured to one another. The information carrier 4 is disposed in this region before the layers are assembled together. Any sheet- shaped material (paper, cardboard, plastics material, metal. fabric etc.) can be used for the information carrier. which forms an additional (third) layer. The access to the information carrier is only possible by taking the mat apart, that- is-to-say destroying the said mat. The shape of the information carrier. in the form of the additional inner layer, can be arbitrary, as desired.
In the case of the exemplified embodiment described, the inforrnatlon carrier is produced from a rigid piece of paper or a thin polymer (for example the synthetic paper "Polylit"). The information carrier 4 is disposed in the centre of the mat or to the left or respectively to the right of the centre. Before the layers are assembled. notches or perforations are formed on the layers of the mat, the said notches or perforations fonning the tear line 3. if in some cases it is not possible to form the notches on account of the characteristics of the material or for other reasons, it is possible to provide a weakened area in the fracture zone 5 (Figure 12), for example by scraping material away from at least one layer in a conventional manner.
IEo&0%s* The tear lines ‘of the layers are put together when the layers are assembled.
The notches are formed in a typical manner such that the tear line extends through the central region of the mat with the information carrier 4 (Figures 1, . 8).
The breaking of the mat along the tear line effects the division into two portions (halves), although if more tear lines are present the number of portions can be greater: see Figures 2 — 5 and 11. The division into two halves guarantees access to the informalion carrier or to the information itself, which is disposed on one of the layers (Figures 5, 7 and 8). In one embodiment, the information carrier can be secured to one oi the halves of the divisible mat (Figure 7).
The shape of the mat and of the information carrier can be arbitrary according to what is desired. The main shapes are a circle, square, square with rounded corners and an oval (Figures 9 — 12).
With reference to the known mat, the advantage of the mat according to the present invention is the considerable reduction in the effort required when taking the mat apart and the increase in the absorption capacity of the met.
The mat is easy to produce and convenient to use.
