Novel 17,18-di:dehydro apo-vincamine derivs. substd. in ring `A' by a nitro gp. of formula (I) and their salts are active ingredients in antihypoxic pharmaceutical prepns. In formula (I) R1 is a nitro gp. in one of the posns. of 9, 10 or 11. R2 is a H atom, or 1-5C alkyl gp. with a proviso that when R2 is a Me gp. R1 occupies posn. 10 exclusively.
