Abstract
Basic fabric conditioning cpds. are prepd. - from 12-22C fatty-acids and/or fatty-acid-methyl-esters and di:ethylene-tri:amine (1: 0.5 molar ratio) in inert gas atmosphere, at 180-230 deg.C. A mixt. contg. 10-30 mol% N,N-bis-(2-(R1-CO-NH)-Et)-a mine (1) and 70-90 mol% of 1-(2'-(R1-CO-NH)-ET)-Z-R1-imidazole (11) is obtd. (R1: satd. unsatd or mixed fatty acid 10-22 C alkyl gp). This mixt. is alkylate in inert atmosphere with sodium-chloro-acetate in equimolar proportion to (1) in a medium of alcohol, glycol or in melt form at 80-120 deg.C subsequently quaternary cpd are prepd with dismethyl-and/or di:ethyl-sulphate used in equimolar proportion to (11), to yield a mixt. of N,N-bis (2-R1-CO-NH)-Et)-N-carboxy-methyl- amine (111) and of 1-(2'-(R1-CO-NH)-Et)-ZR1-3-R2-imid-azolimium-R2-su lphate (IV), where (R1:as R2 = methyl or ethyl gp.
