Abstract

The beam is subdivided longitudinally into sections in function of the anticipated static load or, when the whole beam is to be subjected to a single characteristic load, it is considered to constitute a single section; the web of the section(s) is then cut into two halves along a cutting line (3) composed of straight lines and curves of variable periodicity in a rotationally symmetrically manner in relation to the point (o) located on a median line (k) perpendicular to the length of the sections. The dimensions of the castellations so obtained are thus adapted to the load. One of the halves (2) so obtained is rotated through 180 DEG about the median line, the two halves of the beam are jointed together to form a web, and, in the case of several sections, the castellated sections so obtained are joined together.
