Abstract

The proposed appts. is in the form of a closed vessel divided into an acidic pre-fermenter space connected by a transfer pipe to the main methane generating fermenter space and a post-fermenting space separated from the others by a dividing wall reaching up to 4/5 ths of the tank diameter. - The main fermenter space is provided with feed pipes and integral feed funnels which reach to the level of the fermenter space and pref. below it, by a few centimetres. The main fermenter space is also equipped with a tubular coil heater carrying a heat transfer medium, which is heated outside the vessel by a gas heater. The feed pipe system is connected to a homogeniser tank and the adjoining pump.
