Abstract
A process of bleaching a fabric comprises applying in neat form onto at least a portion of the fabric before the fabric is washed, a bleaching liquid composition comprising an aliphatic diacyl peroxide of formula R-C(O)-O-O-(O)-C-R1 (I). R and R1 are 6-20C aliphatic groups. Also claimed is a liquid bleaching composition suitable for pretreating fabrics having a pH of 0-6 and comprising 0.05-10 wt% of an aliphatic diacyl peroxide of formula (I) and 0.01-10 wt% of a second peroxygen bleach(es). The composition also comprises a second peroxygen bleach(es) especially H2O2 or its water soluble source. The composition also comprises a bleach activator in an amount of 0.01-10 wt% and selected from acetyl triethyl citrate, tetracetyl ethylene diamine, sodium 3,5,5-trimethyl hexanoyl benzene sulphonate, diperoxy dodecanoic acid, nonylamide of peroxyadipic acid, n-nonanoyloxy benzene sulphonate, and N-acyl caprolactam
