Abstract
The system includes an on-board computer and a data structure explicitly characterizing the dynamic and energetic operation relations of the vehicle relating to the train and the driving mechanism. The on-board computer also has a data store provided to store different sign strings. The system also has an electronic locating system which uses the recorded data to determine the center mass position of the towing vehicle or assigned vehicle of the rail-motor set on the railway center line. The on-board computer determines an output system for providing optimal control sign or signs. The sign strings describe the characteristics of the given path section and provide running times defined in the schedule which relates to the running time between the stations and to the staying time. The on-board computer executes a custom software which makes the electronic locating system detect the location of the towing vehicle based on the signals describing the rail track. The custom software is also used to determine the dynamic characteristics and other characteristics of the train. A dynamic system simulation is used for calculating a control function, providing minimal energy absorption from the supply network by the towing vehicle during the transmission of the train and minimal total fuel consumption. The output system may be alternatively provided as a consulting system, a semi-automatic system or an automatic system.
