Abstract
2-phenyl-4-methyl-tosil-piperazine is prepd. by a novel method from (2-chloro-ethyl)-(2-chloro-phenyl-ethyl)-methylamine and tosil-amide in the presence of a phase transfer-catalyst and of an acid scavenger in a mixt. of H2O and an immiscible organic solvent. In a pref. prepn. method styryl-oxide reacts with 2-(methyl-amino)-ethanol, followed by chlorination, using thionyl-chloride, and a direct reaction with tosil-amide. The prod. is obtd. from the isomeric mixt. by selective crystallization. 2-phenyl-4-methyl-1-tosil-piperazine is a known effective intermediate cpd. of mirtazepine.
