Abstract
An expanded, bio-decomposable composition comprises: amylose or amylo-pectin containing, preferably maize starch having a maximum moisture content of 16 wt.%; bio-decomposing polymer; plasticizer; blowing agent; additive mixture containing disinfectant, stabiliser, flame-proofing agent and herbicide. All constituents are mixed and mixtures are extruded at 100-180[deg]C. An expanded, bio-decomposable composition comprises: (1) amylose or amylo-pectin containing, preferably maize starch having a maximum moisture content of 16 wt.%; (2) 0.1-15 wt.% bio-decomposing polymer, preferably ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer; (3) 0.01-8 wt.% plasticizer; (4) 0.5-10 wt.% blowing agent; and (5) 0.001-0.1 wt.% additive mixture containing disinfectant, stabiliser, flame-proofing agent and herbicide. All constituents are mixed and mixtures are extruded at 100-180[deg]C.
