Description

Geranium is a flowering plant native to South Africa. Pelargonium species have a characteristic scent, with asymmetrical flowers, which are very mature. Easy to crawl ornamental plant. Pelargonium zonale (common geranium) is a fleshy, erect ornamental plant with a fleshy, erect stem, lacy edges, lobed leaves, flowers of very different colors.

Due to its excellent adaptability, it has spread from South Africa to Northern Europe and America.

Today it is one of the most well-known or widely used ornamental plants in the world.

Already in János Lippai's book "Posoni Garden" he mentions geranium. Linné also mentions geranium in Species Plantarum, written in 1753. Dellonius mentions the first geranium hybrids in his book by crossing Pelargonium inguinans and Pelargonium zonale. Andreus already mentioned 200 varieties in 1800, and R. Sweet in 1830 mentioned 500 varieties. According to experts, there are still around 300 varieties in the world today.

The demand for these potted flowers has increased in our country in the last decades. Even today, our most popular potted ornamental plant is geranium. It is widespread in parks, gardens, balconies, windows.

According to the literature, 12 red, 10 pink, 3 white, 3 purple and 3 multicolored P. hortorum varieties are present in Hungary. There are 3 red, 3 pink and 3 purple varieties of P. peltatum cultivated and cultivated. Some of these propagate by propagation of cuttings without breeding and selection.

The introduction of a new breed of breeding material produced by breeding in Hungary increases the variety of varieties and serves to better meet the needs.

Purpose of the Invention: To promote and propagate a white flower, a semi-dense flowering, red-bellied, dark and medium green deciduous variety that stands prominently from the foliage and is different from other white flowering geraniums.

The subject of the present invention is GLACIS geranium (Pelargonium zonale hybrid), a special petal-sized, white petal-red, red-flowered, full-flowering, long-stemmed, attractive variety with no vivid dark or medium-green leaf that is not prone to chlorosis and breaks the inflorescences.

The geranium habitus of the Glacis variety is shown in Figure 1.

It differs from the Fisbal variety similar to the Glacis variety in that the variety according to the invention has a narrow to medium width (without inflorescences) and a medium Fisbal variety.

Morphological and physiological characteristics of the new geranium species of the present invention are as follows:
