Abstract
Predmet ovog izuma je mješovita bakterijska kultura, nazvana Atz Mix 1, porijeklom iz tla koje je bilo izloženo dugotrajnom zagađenju atrazinom i drugim s-triazinskim spojevima. Kultura Atz Mix 1 razgrađuje atrazin u vrlo širokom koncentracijskom rasponu (nekoliko ppb do deset tisuća ppm), pri čemune nastaju toksični metaboliti, nego se atrazin potpuno razgrađuje (mineralizira). Atz Mix 1 je stabilna mješovita kultura koja se sastoji od najmanje četiri bakterijska soja različitih morfoloških, fizioloških i kataboličkih svojstava. Molekularna karakterizacija kulture Atz Mix 1 ukazala je na prisutnost kataboličkih gena koji kodiraju enzime zarazgradnju atrazina do cijanurne kiseline i otvaranje s-triazinskog prstena (trzN, atzB, atzC i trzD), a visoki stupanj mineralizacije radioaktivno obilježenog 14C atrazina u prstenu (približno 80%) potvrdio je da se razgradnja nastavlja do CO2 i NH4+.Mikrobiološka metoda za razgradnju atrazina i drugih s-triazina koju uključuje ovaj izum ima prednost pred do sada opisanim metodama u kojima se primjenjuju pojedinačne bakterijske kulture napose zbog održivog rasta i stabilne kataboličke aktivnosti mješovite kulture Atz Mix 1 u različitim, promjenljivim i nepovoljnim uvjetima (visoka koncentracija atrazina, nepovoljan udio C/N, niske temperature). Nadalje treba naglasiti da je negativan učinak na kinetiku razgradnje atrazina i kataboličku aktivnost kulture Atz Mix 1 u prisutnosti pogodnijegizvora dušika značajno manje izražen nego kod do sada opisanih pojedinačnih bakterija. Temeljem navedenog očekuje se da će mikrobiološka metoda koja je predmet ovog izuma biti pogodna za bioremedijaciju zagađenog tla, napose tla koji sadrži veće količine dušikovih spojeva te za ubrzanje procesa mineralizacije atrazina u vodenom mediju, napose u otpadnoj vodi koja sadrži visoke koncentracije toga herbicida.
