Jedan od najvećih problema u ugostiteljstvu je precizno evidentiranje prodaje kave. Problem naročito dolazi do izražaja u ugostiteljskim objektima gdje je nerade vlasnici, te tamo gdje distributeri kave ustupaju u najam kafe aparate pod uvjetom da korisnik koristi njihovu kavu. Poznato je nekoliko rješenja navedenog problema. Najčešće je mehanički brojčanik koji se nalazi na mlincu kafe-aparata. Taj brojčanik evidentira svaku dozu mljevene kave, no takav brojčanik je vrlo lako prevariti zbog same konstrukcije mlinca.
