Abstract
SE DESCRIBEN PLANTAS DE ARROZ CON MULTIPLES FUENTES DE RESISTENCIA A HERBICIDAS QUE NORMALMENTE INHIBEN LA ENZIMA ACETOHIDROXIACIDO SINTETASA (AHAS) DE LA PLANTA. ADEMAS DE CONTROLAR EL ARROZ ROJO, MUCHOS HERBICIDAS QUE INHIBEN AHAS TAMBIEN CONTROLAN DE MANERA EFECTIVA OTRAS MALEZAS QUE SON COMUNES EN LOS CULTIVOS DE ARROZ. VARIOS DE ESTOS HERBICIDAS TIENEN ACTIVIDAD RESIDUAL, DE MANERA QUE UN TRATAMIENTO PUEDE CONTROLAR TANTO LAS MALEZAS EXISTENTES COMO LAS QUE BROTARAN MAS TARDE. CON ACTIVIDAD RESIDUAL EFECTIVA CONTRA ARROZ ROJO Y OTRAS MALEZAS, LOS PRODUCTORES DE ARROZ AHORA TIENEN UN SISTEMA DE CONTROL DE MALEZAS SUPERIOR A AQUELLOS QUE ESTAN ACTUALMENTE DISPONIBLES EN EL MERCADO.RICE PLANTS ARE DESCRIBED WITH MULTIPLE SOURCES OF RESISTANCE TO HERBICIDES THAT NORMALLY INHIBIT THE ENZYME ACETOHIDROXIACIDO SINTETASA (AHAS) OF THE PLANT. IN ADDITION TO CONTROLLING THE RED RICE, MANY HERBICIDES THAT INHIBIT NOW ALSO CONTROL EFFECTIVELY OTHER WEEDS THAT ARE COMMON IN THE RICE CROPS. MISCELLANEOUS OF THESE HERBICIDES HAVE RESIDUAL ACTIVITY, SO THAT A TREATMENT CAN CONTROL BOTH THE EXISTING SEEDS AS THOSE THAT WILL SPREAD LATER. WITH EFFECTIVE RESIDUAL ACTIVITY AGAINST RED RICE AND OTHER WEEDS, RICE PRODUCERS NOW HAVE A HIGHER WEIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM THAN THOSE THAT ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET.
