Abstract
The invention relates to a method concerning the removal and concentration of desirable ions such as Sb, Zr, Zn, Pu, Hf, Cu, NI, Fe, Cd, Ag and Hg from a source-solution of multiple ions, which source-solution may contain higher concentrations of other indesirable ions including H, be in contact with a compound containing aminoalkylphosphonic acid substituent covalently bonded, via an organic silicone ligand, to a solid inorganic support. The bonding affinity characterising the aminoalkylphosphonic acid substituent permits the desirable ions to form a complex meant to detach the desirable ions from the source-solution. The desirable ions are removed from the compound as soon as this last comes in contact with a receiving liquid of smaller volume having greater bonding affinity with the desirable ions than the aminoalkylphosphonic acid substituent has. The process is useful for removing desirable or indesirable ions sb (III) from acidic waste currents, currents containing concentrated Cu (II), Ni (II), Zn (II) and Ag (I), for removing Zr (IV), PU (IV) and HF)IV) from nitric acid solutions containing high concentrations of other ions, as well as for removing indesirable ions from other industrial or environmental currents.
