Abstract

Position sensors are presented here which are used for the measurement of points, moving on a rectilinear axis. Application is mainly for tool machines and specialised medical instruments which incorporate a magnetic contraction delay line, the length of which establishes the measurable length as determined by its ends and upon which one end is provided with means for the induction and reception of a magnetic field and on the opposite end, a moving mid-core, the location of which is determined by the proposed position sensors. In alternative applications of the invention, the moving mid-core can also be the same magnetic field induction coil, charged by a pulsed or sinusoidal signal, magnet, or ball bearing of linear motion rotating around a static helicoid coil, around which is then wound the magnetic contraction delay line.
