Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for coating surfaces with a water/oil - repellent layer, which does not allow adhesion of pollutants and thus makes them easily cleanable and protects them against chemical-mechanical degradation over time. This method which fully restores the substrate, especially when this is glass or ceramic, is completed in three steps. In the first step, chemical-mechanical peeling-off of the substrate takes place. Then, in the second step, chemical activation of the substrate with an alcoholic mixture is effected, while in the third step coating of the substrate with a suitable solution of silicon oligomers is effected. During its contact with the substrate in the presence of moisture and during the evaporation of the contained solvent, the solution is subjected to polymerization and gradual curing, so that a thin and easily cleanable film is obtained, which has a high mechanical and chemical strength and a remarkable UV stability, and thus its funcionality is ensured for large time periods.
