Abstract

The present invention relates to a lyophilized medicinal or cosmetic formulation obtained by emulsion lyophilization, which is free from major emulsifiers and preservatives. The formulation of the present invention is obtained by lyophilizing an emulsion containing at least one aqueous phase, a fatty phase and one or more emulsifiers from the class of modified semi-synthetic celluloses, and is further characterized in that it is free from other emulsifiers and preservatives. The formulations of the present invention are produced by a process comprising at least one emulsification step, preferably without using heat, and a lyophilization step.
