Abstract

A high rate, multi stage method for biodiesel production is described. The specific invention presents an embodiment of a biodiesel production plant with the known method of double stage, which invention is characterized by the connection of variousprocessing stages in series, by high productivity, not limited by the comparably slow first stage due to the use of intermediate stages of storage of the material being in the first stage, resulting in the prolonged retention in the first stage without consequent limitation in the processing rate, which is imposed by the comparably faster second stage. Also, the present invention allows the use of raw meterials of any quality, from virgin oils to used fats/oils with a high proportion of free fatty acids, without the need for adjustment of the production procedure, with scalable size of daily production, low consumption of washing water due to the use of a counter-current system in a number of washing vessels, suitably connected in series, automated operation by the use of an electronic automatic control system and minimum required supervision by an operator.
