Abstract
Ποτίστρα μελισσών που αποτελείται από ένα ορθογώνιο σκαφίδι μήκους 90 cm, πλάτους 10 cm και ύψους 6 cm κατασκευασμένη από αλουμίνιο πάχους 2 mm για να μην σκουριάζει και να απολυμαίνεται εύκολα. Περιέχει ξύλινη δοκό (8) και την παροχή νερού με ένα σταλακτοφόρο σωλήνα (1), καλυμμένη από σήτα (9) για την προστασία της από άγρια ζώα και να επιτρέπει να πίνουν νερό μόνο οι μέλισσες και τα πουλιά. Δεν δημιουργείται μεγάλη επιφάνεια νερού για να μην πνίγονται μέλισσες. Στηρίζεται σε δύο ξύλινες βάσεις (3) και με τέσσερες μεταλλικές βέργες (4) στερεώνεται στο έδαφος για να μη δύνανται τα διάφορα ζώα να την μετακινήσουν ή να την αναποδογυρίσουν. Η ποτίστρα εξασφαλίζει στις μέλισσες φρέσκο νερό και λόγω της μικρής υπερχείλισης (2) δε δημιουργείται στάσιμο νερό και έτσι δεν αναπτύσσονται μικροοργανισμοί. Ακόμη oι εργάτριες μέλισσες δεν μπορούν να πνιγούν γιατί δε δημιουργούνται μεγάλες επιφάνειες νερού, άρα δεν έχουμε εστίες μόλυνσης από νοσεμίαση και άλλες ασθένειες των μελισσών.
