Abstract

The invention relates to a modern clinically advanced combination taping technique based on the application and combination of two different taping techniques (McConnell taping and kinesiology taping) in one single application (combination tape). The combination taping is applied without affecting the particularities of the aforementioned techniques; in contrast, it reinforces and facilitates the operation of the musculoskeletal system, ensures the desired movement and modifies, in a favorable way, the muscular dynamics and the kinetic schemas. Beyond their differences, said techniques possess some common characteristics from which the most important is that they occupy the same application space on the skin.

Combination Taping is the most modern and clinically advanced form of combination taping. It is based on the practical application and combination of 2 different taping techniques, McConnell Taping and Kinesiology Taping. It finds application in sports for the rehabilitation and prevention of injuries as well as in pathological incidents in the daily practice of various specialties such as physiotherapists, Physical Rehabilitation Doctors, Orthopedics, Occupational Therapists and Sports Trainers for the best prevention and rehabilitation of injuries.

Caution! It is not about learning bandaging techniques only with kinesiology tape or McConnell tape but about a deeper and more comprehensive approach, which includes applications of both of the 2 techniques mentioned above in a single application "COMBINATION TAPE" because it has the most stable bandaging compared to all other techniques and at the same time improves the stabilization of the articular surfaces.

These two techniques, namely kinesiology tape and McConell tape, have been in the field of rehabilitation and prevention for many years. They are applied separately, each film having its own KOL characteristics, differences between them, as well as some common points. Kinesiology tape is an elastic tape, it contains 100% cotton and acrylic glue that is friendly to the skin and the environment. It has the thickness of the skin and its characteristics with elasticity of 40% of the general length, wherever it is applied. The inventor is the Japanese chiropractor and kinesiologist Dr. Kenzo Kase. The basis for this idea, regarding this particular technique, was the skin and muscles. He did not stop at the thought that the skin is only our outer covering, but specifically recognized the function of the skin, as the largest reflex organ of the body. Kase noticed in muscles not only the ability to react to changes in the environment but also the possibility to support the healing and regeneration process of the body. Thus, muscles not only make movement possible, but also microcirculation, heat, transmission of appropriate neuromuscular impulses. McConell tape and this method is known around the world as "100% rigid tape". This particular invention belongs to the world-famous physical therapist Jenny McConell, who in 1986 applied the mechanical correction of the patella for the first time, giving the opportunity to many professionals in the field to apply her techniques to the entire musculoskeletal system. This technique is applied through the 100% agate material and cannot be placed by itself directly on the skin because its glue contains zinc oxide, a material that is dangerous when it comes into contact with the surface of the skin, for this reason before this tape (leucotape) an anti-allergic gauze (Fixomull) is placed on the skin.

What is COMBINATION TAPING.

COMBINATION TAPING is the combination of 2 different taping techniques in one application.

Its mechanical action through skin receptors has made this method revolutionary with a wide variety of applications not only in the musculoskeletal system of the human body but also in the nervous system and chronic diseases.

COMBINATION TAPING ( McConnell tape on an elastic Kinesiology tape ) is applied without affecting their specificities mainly in the proprioceptive behavior, on the contrary it strengthens, stabilizes and facilitates the functioning of the musculoskeletal system, because it ensures the desired movement on the one hand but also favorably modifies it the mechodynamic relations and the kinetic schemes.

On its own, kinesiology tape, while it offers proprioceptive behavior when applied in relation to the stabilization of articular surfaces, is quite far, even from 100% of its maximum elasticity (40%). Therefore, in order for an application to be complete both dynamically and functionally, it must be reinforced by the rigid McConell, as we mentioned above, without affecting the behavior of the first one (kinesiology). Therefore, the simultaneous applications at the same point of application offers a complete picture with excellent mechanical behavior of the hinged surfaces, and not only that.

Observing each of the two bandages (kinesiology tape kai McConell) separately, we find that they have many differences between them but also some commonalities, the most important of which is that they have the same area of application, the skin..

The COMBINATION TAPING method does not give a primary role to either of the two aforementioned films, but from its daily practical application, we find that they cover each other harmoniously, complementing the different ones between them.

The "combination taping" technique according to Claim 1, ensures the desired movement on the one hand, but also modifies favorably, without affecting the mycodynamic relationships and kinetic patterns of the musculoskeletal system. 5. According to Claim 1, the application of the technique of McConnell taping 100% rigid over the elastic technique "kinesiology taping" (40% elastic), a) does not affect the elasticity of the lower tape, because it is applied on top of it, keeping it line of application, b) does not affect the aspects created by the kinesiology tape technique, it simply continues in the same form as the previous technique, with the difference that this application is more stable and safer, creating an upgraded functional splint.
