Abstract

The invention relates to a method for controlling the power of stall regulated variable speed wind turbines. By the power control method described herein, an effective solution for automatic power control in stall regulated variable speed wind turbines is given. The proposed method has been test in laboratory as effective. The proposed method is based on a controlled decrease in the rotation speed of the wind turbine rotor, so that its aerodynamic yield is controllably reduced. The proposed method provides an effective power control with step changes in the rotational speed of the wind turbine based on the time period when the power exceeds specific levels. The method may be realized as real-time algorithm which can be executed by commercially available processors.
