Abstract
The invention provides a group of users that perform various activities in real time using systems for sound and or image generation (audio and video synthesizers, stage lighting instruments, projection devices etc. ) or other hybrid systems (personal computers and multimedia devices etc. ) the ability to interact directly. The key concept of the invention is the modification of the actions of each user according to characteristic elements of the actions of other users and hence the generation of an individual output for each user containing features from the actions of other users. Such features are mainly rhythmic elements arising from each user`s temporal sequence of activities and their durations. The invention intervenes between a controller, like a MIDI keyboard, and the device that generates the final audio or visual output. It collects data on each user`s actions and transmits them to remote systems. At the same time, it modifies these actions in an automated process prior to transmit them to the output devices and the final audio or visual output is generated. The aim is the interaction of the users through their actions and their effect on the individual output of each user and not via a single common output.
