Abstract

The invention relates to a novel multi-channel, multi-parametric sensor-probe with the capability of continuous recording of the physicochemical parameters related to the qualitative and quantitative characterization of the ground and underground water resources. This sensor allows direct recording-in real time-of all the important hydrogeological parameters, so that a reasonable manipulation of water resources is feasible. This invention can be used for the monitoring of the water quantities available, the monitoring of the brackishness of the aquifers and the monitoring of the pollution in the aquifers by toxic elements, with requirements as defined in the EU Directive 2000/60 for the water policy, valid since 22/12/2000.The advantages in respect with the conventional systems and methodsare: I. Simultaneous automatic recording of 15 physicochemical parameters II. Immersion down to 250 meters III. Real-time data transfer IV. Software for operation, data manipulation and calibration V. Alarm system if the predetermined values are exceeded (limits according to EU) VI. Connection with a geographical database (GIS).
