Abstract
he closed cycle regenerator is a heat exchanger which effects heat transfer between two fluids of different temperatures and pressure, inside cylinders with suitably shaped pistons and inner surfaces. The cylinders are arranged in pair and featurefour valves each for the inlet and outlet of each of the fluids. The cylinders reciprocate, as in the case of the reciprocating engine, depending on which valve is open. Each fluid passes in succession from half the cylinders of the system and, accordingly, deposits or collects a quantity of heat.
